Thomas Perkins
Happy Friday Ya'll.Perfect weather here in Georgia to do anything. It is time for my Weber to get new gaskets. They don't last long till gas starts going thru them and going down the carb.I did it not too long ago.I do have a boat load of gaskets. As soon as the engine cools down,I will get started. My weber is almost 7 years old.It is a Redline and never had a issue. It runs perfect.I wiped the gas stains not long ago and look at it now.It will cause it to idle a little low.The last picture is upside down.See all the gas stains on the linkage.I will make it disappear.I got to go and get another can of brake cleaner.Another area that needs cleaning from gas is where you open the gas door.Clorox cleans it good.More pictures as I take it apart. banzai510(hainz)
be honest it looks fine to me. Mine is leaky where one needs to clean it every year or so. To me they always dont last long before they weep gas thru is a better saying than leak. the accell pump diaphrames go out the most, Now thats a BAD leak right on the exhaust manifold! Thomas Perkins
Here is the gaskets that was leaking.I should make my gasket out of my chip board. It is thicker. It is over 2 times thicker.Same stuff I use to make my patterns for my kick panels.I have a bunch of it. Thomas Perkins
II will look up and see when I replaced the gaskets last time. They sure are real thin.I just thought about it.With thicker gaskets. The choke lever might be too high and no go into the top choke place where the little clip holds it.May cause it to bind. Also their is a small plastic piece there that may come out.Mine did and had to find out where it goes. There is also a piece that goes in that hole.Always good to have the parts list showing where everything goes.I bought this Weber in 2016.Only had to replace gaskets ,everything else has held up. datzenmike
Did you try tightening the screws? Gasket material will compress over time and with heat. I make most of my gaskets from cereal boxes. Water pump, fuel pump, thermostat housing to head and oil pump. Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
All carburetor gaskets will weep. But they almost never actually leak. Basically, they are sealing out air, and not really keeping in fuel. Ok, the float bowl gasket keeps fuel in, but the base gasket...as long as it's not torn, it is fine. The fasteners do require occasional tightening. Including the lid screws and mounting flange nuts. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah your right. But when the base gasket is saturated with gas and you turn the engine off.The gas will go down the base.Mine had that effect. It shows in one of my picture. Quote Link to comment
