powderfinger
Has anyone used this site for the rubber seal around the windshield or rear glass? If so, any feedback on quality? I need to replace the rear window seal on my truck and the existing seals on each of my 720s are all in bad shape. Doesn't look there are too many places that sell these. https://vintagerubber.com/datsun-720-pick-up-rear-glass-seal-cal-style-extended-king-cab-1980-1986/ Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
All 720s had a metal trim in the windshield and rear window molding. This says no groove for this if you can live without it. I think the slider rear window is a different. Quote Link to comment
powderfinger
Yes, I was curious if the molding is different for the sliding vs non sliding rear window. All mine are sliding rear windows with no metal trim. Quote Link to comment
olskool720
I found that website also, but was willing to pull the trigger. I found one on ebay two months ago in a sealed Nissan bag. Haven't installed yet. I don't think that all 720s came with the chrome trim in the seal. My standard cab non-ST fresh off the lot had no chrome in the front or back. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It was available all years... My info usually says if optional or not. May have been only on on King Cabs or DX and GL. Doesn't say on 4x4. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
When I got my 720 painted not long ago. They removed the rear window, for some reason the guy cut the the seal and the body shop caught hell finding a new one, which made me wait longer to get it back.I looked everywhere.People had the slider for sale but no seal.Mine is a 4x4.The body shop had a few sent to them till this one was the right one. They gave me the old seal that was cut and the old black body stripping. powderfinger
That's the same truck I have but mine is an 86 ST model 4x4. I may call that company and see if their seal works on a sliding glass. I took the black plastic fenders flairs off of mine but may decide to put them back on at some point. I think I like the way it looks better without them though. I have the small chrome pieces that cover the edge of the fender wells on my 2wd ST model. I am considering taking those off that truck and putting them on the 4x4. 1 Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
Better make sure that they will refund your money if it's not the right one. Quote Link to comment

DuallyDatsun
Had a windshield replaced in the 84 I had years ago. Took my guy a couple weeks, because he had to hunt down a seal before he could do the swap. 1 Quote Link to comment
7twentyguy
I’ve got rubber for both front & rear from these guys. No problem with fit or function. This was the only company that had the larger seal for a king cab rear glass. I like the looks without the stainless steel trim. Quote Link to comment
7twentyguy
Old glass with trim. Quote Link to comment
powderfinger
Awesome, that's good to hear. Thanks for the feedback, I'll likely go ahead and get a front and rear seal from them. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Keep us posted on the results. I am in the market for a rear seal. Quote Link to comment
7twentyguy
Here’s a picture of the back rubber, the seal was soft and easy to install. Not trying to hijack this thread but I’m looking for the seals for the rear vent windows for a king cab. All the ones I come across are weathered I was looking at a Steele rubber seals catalog trying to figure out if I could make some. 1 Quote Link to comment
powderfinger
I hear ya, I could use some seals for the rear vent windows as well. All of mine are split in the bottom corners. Quote Link to comment
720_Jeff
Vintage was looking into reproducing those rear vent window seals. No idea where they are with that. I could use a few sets as well Quote Link to comment
powderfinger
Thought I would post a follow up to this thread. I ended up purchasing the rear window seal for my 720 from these guys. I had no problems with fitment and would certainly order from them again. I emailed them to see if they would consider reproducing the rear vent window seals for the king cab but I have had no response from them. Quote Link to comment

Steve Austin
I'm looking for the rear seal with the chrome trim, I'm trying to keep it as original as possible but not afraid to make a couple tweaks. I already have the front windshield seal and a few for the doors but the back is the only one I can't find. Quote Link to comment
720_Jeff
I saw a post on FB recently where Vintage Rubber was looking for a rear window to use to test and correct fitment issues on their rear seal. I would suspect, those will become available again thru them in the coming months Quote Link to comment
Sephakrid
Reviving an old thread here, but I recently came across this new listing from Steele: https://www.steelerubber.com/rear-window-gasket-70-4830-81 I'll probably buy one since I've been searching on and off over the past few months with no luck. Sephakrid
I have the slider window, so I'm hoping this seal will fit! I noticed it also has the groove for the trim pieces. Quote Link to comment
