510revisited Posted September 13, 2020 Report Share Posted September 13, 2020 So i removed my driver fender to inspect the underside. Check for rust, damage from my recent accident, blah blah blah. I noticed these welds that weld the non removable part of the cowel to the rest of the car. They look like mig. Not a factory spot. They probably just get told how many spot welds to put in a given area ... I bet if you looked another 510 in that area the spots would be close but probably not exactly the same spot.... datzenmike Posted September 14, 2020 Report Share Posted September 14, 2020 I did a few days of spot welding on the line at GM in '74?. Shitty job and ruins T shirts. Had to have at least 8 spots across the bottom of the GM truck rear window. If you got 10 (or more) that was fine with them. Two years later spray painting where I usually worked was robotized and likely the spot welding too. By then I was long gone. Quote Link to comment
