125 CSL
I would have put this in politics,...but it extends outside the normal bickering. Think this was slipped in with no one reading the 2000+ pages of the spending bill. It is not getting a lot of coverage. While I am sure no one here is doing anything illegal unless it is that undocumented Datsun part smuggled across the boarder. It is never a good thing when governments get more access. Crypto world is going deep into it for obvious reasons. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2018/03/25/CLOUD-Act-gives-US-foreign-law-enforcement-more-access-to-Americans-emails/1021522020817/ U.S. and foreign law enforcement agencies will now have easier access to Americans' electronic communications after a new that was included in the federal spending bill. The Clarifying Overseas Use of Data Act, also known as the CLOUD Act, gives law enforcement access to "the contents of a wire or electronic communication and any record or other information" if those contents are stored in servers overseas, regardless of the privacy laws in that country. In addition, the CLOUD Act allows the President of the United States to enter into agreements with other countries to share private electronic communications and data of individuals regardless of the privacy laws of each country. https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-community-fears-passage-of-the-cloud-act/ It hasn’t been a great couple of weeks for cryptocurrency privacy advocates. Revelations from notorious whistleblower Edward Snowden showed a long, consistent pattern of US government eavesdropping and tracking of bitcoiners in particular since at least 2013. Now, new US legislation smuggled into an omnibus spending bill appears to give government ever-more power in its ability to monitor online privacy. skip to 8:40 the first part is market talk about bitcoin.
