When I get it to where I'm content with the results, I'll be sure to post very clear, close up pics.

Might be a minute, as I still have to mount the 280YZ quarter panels.

And I can't do that until I get ten inch wide wheels for the rear.

I found some the same style as I have now, but they 8(fr) and 10® inches wide, versus 7.

YEP. I'll still be sportin' 14's.

And, PERFECT for Ye Olde Skool Vintage/Race feel I'm going for.

He also has the vintage, highest quality louvers for the rear window.

The way to tell it the ends/sides are rounded, @ the diameter of a nickel or quarter.

Plus they are thick material, of course.

My 14x7's and tires, and 50 bucks for all of it.

Something for all of ya to think about in the mean time.

ALL Ford Model T's were painted High Gloss Black alkyd enamel,

with a brush, FACTORY.

One of my favorites quotes "The new Ford Model T comes in any color you want, as long as it's black"

You can get a good quality paint job from just about any paint. It's all about the prep and finish work. Looks good so far

Ha! it's something that comes up when my friend and I are spending COUNTLESS hours doing paint prep/ bodywork!

And the cool thing is, after painting with the brush, they were basically hand-rubbed/buffed until they looked good!

-it underscores ]2eDeYe's point that (virtually) any paint job can be made to look good with the right prep and finish work.

That said, finding a system you know and can work with is about the best way to get a quality finish as efficiently as possible.

This project is looking sweet! Many people (present company excepted) have NO idea how much time and effort is required to do work like this until they do it themselves.

Thanks Bro.

I dig your car as well.

LOTSA character, to be sure!

So, with the help of "Bonvo",

I ventured up to the North Bay,

and traded my narrow a$$ 14x7's for some 14x8's, and 14x9's.

WOW!

The rear wheels STILL aren't wide enough!!

As much as I hate to say it, I might have to run 1" spacers.

I could probably use 1 1/2" spacers, but I'm leery of even using 1"ers.

Here are some pics of the quarters roughly mounted, and the new wheels...

I also got one of the rarer, higher quality rear window louvers.

More pics this week...

I finally got the 280YZ quarters mounted.

Not permanently, as I don't have a welder.

I still need to cut the wheel wells, and I want to bond the quarters on with fiberglass.

BTW.

If you are considering buying these, a warning.

The fit and finish of the pieces themselves are absolute SHIT!

They aren't even consistent left to right!

I also mounted the fairly rare, thick material rear window louvers I picked up.

I had to restore them.

Missing a rivet or two, center support was broken in two places.

Paint was severely faded.

Still needs a little work, but looks nice enough for now.

Also, the new to me, vintage and UBER rare,

14x8(Front) and 14x9(Rear) Performance Specialties wheels mounted.

Lips will eventually be polished, raw spokes, and black in the cut outs.

GREAT suggestion, John!

BTW, the front bumper is just laying there on the brackets.

I want to cut out the later model bracket spacers,

to sink it towards the front of the car @ an inch or so.

Thanx, Gents.

Out of all the cars I've owned, I've never been so proud.

Still miss my welder, compressor, and tools.

I've been looking at some of the crazy modded trucks here,

esp. the 521's(gawd I love 'em),

and I wish I was still able to do that kinda crap.

I'd LOVE to chop the top on the Z about 3-4 inches.

Would make the side windows like an Aussie late 60's early 70's Falcon fastback.

Very crisp, sharp lines.

Almost makes me feel naked or inadequate somehow

not being able to do crazy body mods to my ride whenever I want.

Yessir.

It will be all glassed in, once I get the chance to radius the wheel wells properly.

Gotta 120V welder I could use for a few hours?:D

And as far as why the wheels are Uber rare.

4x114.3 lug pattern, 5 slot mags, 14x6 or 14x7, very common.

Lotsa vintage sets, by MANY manufacturers.

Finding 14x8's, uncommon.

Finding 14x9's, rare.

Finding a complete,

original, staggered set of 14x8's and 14x9's,

pristine, original, bolt on center caps,

all wheels by the same vintage, out of business brand

(P/S; Performance Specialties)?

You tell me.

Try to find another set like this.

I did try. Pretty hard, I might add.

I couldn't, anywhere, searching for several hours.

It was hard enough just to find out what P/S stood for.

I found ONE reference, in a 4 year old thread.

A very awesome, laid back individual,

who didn't want a staggered set of wheels,

and knew they would be perfect for this build.

I traded straight across for my old 5 slot 14x7's.

In other words, free.

He is going to get 17's eventually, anyways.

I'll probably have these forever.
