MicroMachinery
Its your car; you can put whatever you want in it. For all the headache and heartache, however, I don't think a GM 2.8 would give you much more power than an L20b... Not to mention how much less reliable it would be. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
this is the engine i have First ....how did you get to -20 in Oregon? You're in the heart of the PNW and full of Datsuns. Place an ad in the classifieds for one. Get one running and fix yours. Zero compression is virtually impossible on 3 cylinders. how do i do that? ... also how do i change the title of the tread... ya i painted it Go pack to your first post and hit the EDIT button at the middle bottom underneath it. Then select Use Full Editor. This will bring up the title that you can now edit. Quote Link to comment

logiccreations
so i rebuilt it but the distributor doesnt spin with the engine or at all for that matter along with no spark which led to the discovery of the distributor problem Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Then take the distributor off and look at the top of the drive spindle down inside. Crank the engine over. Is the spindle turning???? Quote Link to comment
logiccreations
no i did that Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
No the spindle is not turning? Then you forgot to install the worm gear on the crank or the woodruf key that locks it to the crank snout. 1 Quote Link to comment
logiccreations
well something is holding it up in there it doesnt spin. but the engine cranks fine, no noises and such Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The oil pump holds it up in there. Unbolt the pump and let the spindle drop out. Look up inside for the drive worm gear. Maybe set to TDC just in case. If it's there, reach up with screwdriver and try to spin it on the crank. Quote Link to comment
logiccreations
i grabbed the spindle with pliers and tried to spin it but it wont. and will pull it apart tomarow Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
The sprocket and the worm gear are locked to the crank by woodruf keys. They are half moon shape. 1 Quote Link to comment
