Rocky671
My truck is now spitting out black smoke and when I press on gas it sputters???? What's the kause and how kan I fix it??? Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch
Black smoke is un burnt fuel. Too rich. Probably a stuck float. Take a screwdriver and with the handle wack the side of the carb. not hard enough to break anything but hard enough to un stick the float Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
It's true, using K instead of C is not a spelling error (no one could be that illiterate) it's just annoying, just like u for you and 4 instead of for. Communication isn't important when texting friends but if you have an important problem why take short cuts that could lead to a misunderstanding. Take the time to make it easy for others to read and understand rather than easy for yourself.. You probably have the stock carb??? Look on the front at the round sight glass. If the fuel level is correct it will be close to the dot on it. If you can't see the fuel level it is likely over flowing. This can be dirt stuck in the needle valve so it can't close, the float may be set too low or bent from a back fire. Have you replaced the electric fuel pump? Pressure should be no more than 3.5 PSI. Too high will cause flooding. The other thing is the choke not opening when warmed up. Does your alternator charge light flicker of glow dimly? If not charging properly this will cause the choke heater relay to not work. If the choke heater relay does not work there is no power to the electric choke and it never warms up and never shuts off. Possibly the choke linkage is simply stuck with gunk. Liberally spray the linkages with WD-40 and move them to loosen. Quote Link to comment
