United reaches all the way back to April 6, 1926, when they were founded as Varney Air Lines in Boise, Idaho. In 1930 they were bought by United Air Transport and in 1934 they and three other airlines merged to form United Airlines. I believe that was Boeing Air Transport. Quote Link to comment

MarkB. Posted August 28, 2017 Report Share Posted August 28, 2017 It's a Blackbird missing the rudders. It is weird picture for sure; no gear, no ventral fin. Maybe an assembly picture at Groom Lake? Or a a radar cross-section (stealth) test and that pedestal holding it up mounts on a tower out of the picture somewhere. And I just realized, it's upside down. Very mysterious. Cool Artifact.
