Chilly_Willy
Hello, I have been a lurker on this forum for years and have been searching far and wide for a 510. Well all the searching finally paid off and I purchased my first Datsun about a week ago. Being in California it has been difficult to find something that wasnt falling apart for a price a could live with. I found this gem for just that, a price i could live with. I bought this car in the Manteca area, does anyone recognize it? The previous owner had it for about two years but didnt know too much about what had been done to it. Other than fishing for some history on the car... I just wanted to say Hi Will 2 Quote Link to comment

Chilly_Willy
Thanks guys! It has an L20 with a87 head and a five speed. A Weber 32/36 and an ofenhauser? Intake... Haven't read anything about that yet. I've put a couple hundred miles on it this week and it runs well. The suspension has some ground control coilovers on it with disc brakes on the front. I think it has larger drums than stock on the rear from a z? I'm embracing the yellow paint for now. But it is cracking and blistering. I haven't found any rust YET. The plans are to expand on what's here, give everything a good cleaning and slowly update things. I want to keep an L20 in it and don't have dreams over 120hp. I just want a reliable driver that I can enjoy. I'm happy to be here! 2 Quote Link to comment
Jester
Welcome to Ratsun Willy. Car looks good. At least from my recliner anyway. Look forward to seeing more posts about it and you progress. How about some interior shots? Quote Link to comment

Hate to see that one get hammered out, unless it already has been. I'd say wider rims some time down the road, Quote Link to comment

I'd say wider rims some time down the road, I love the car so far. But in my perfect world it would still have the bumpers and rear window vents. I will post some pictures of the body work maybe you guys can help me with some ideas to rewind the original "restoration" Welcome to the Datsun saga,Looks like a nice start and I hope you have a BIG tool box.good luck and welcome aboard. Buying tools is one of my favorite pastimes! welcome to Ratsun, Manteca is not to far away but I dont know a thing about your dime other then it looks like a great start Thats exactly what i think it is a "great start." Most of the stuff on the car were done with a low budget in mind. But the low budget mods made for a great entry cost and made it drivable and comfortable. Now all i have left are baby steps. Welcome to Ratsun Willy. Car looks good. At least from my recliner anyway. Look forward to seeing more posts about it and you progress. How about some interior shots? Ill post some pictures of the interior soon. you guys can see the budget stuff im talking about. Thank you for the warm welcome Quote Link to comment
