Custom Grille on a Ratsun budget

I started with the grill on the top and disassembled it, drilling out the rivets and straightening the cross bars and ribs as best I could.

I then cut some mesh to size, and reassembled with screws instead of rivets.

Here's how it looks on the car. I'm still working on straightening the bottom...

is that stuco mesh?

ive been looking for something similiar, in stainless though...

 

nice job :cool:

 

 

 

i have bamboo forest in my yard and found that small sections of it, and a hammer, are effective at convincing the metal to return to its original shape :lol:

i never finished my grill but check out the lower holes in the valance

the course was very sandy made the turn the first time about 45 so i tried 55 and this is what happend lol

will have to find the pic of the grill i was making

 

the first time around

 

 

I think the grill would have help you stir clear of that ditch.

Or maybe not

Thats in Ilwaco, WA, down at the port!! One of the houses on the hill behind your car is where I live.(cant exactly tell witch one in the pic) Bet you didn't relize you were a 1/4 mile frome 2 other 510's when you were there. I drive my truck through those mudholes when we have a good rain.

i realize this thread is over a year old...but i was wondering how you put the badge on the new grill?

 

Just like putting it on the regular grille, with the hardware on teh badge...

 

I'm not even running that grille anymore...

i guess im S.O.L. because the stems on the back of my badge were so rusted that they just crumbled when i took them off the stock grill. :'( I'll have to figure something out.

 

What grill are you running now? You didn't like your custom grill after all?

I think I have one of the DATSUN badges if you want it I'll bring it to JCCS. :D
