HKS
Looking to reupholster my 71 dash. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on a reputable shop in S cali? Looking to restore back to an OE look and not some simple cloth or vinyl wrap job. Also if anyone has had any expereience with the dash caps from ebay let me know. Some photos would be great! heretic
If I were in LA I'd drop in & check out these guys. Especially if you're wanting to have a stock looking dash. http://justdashes.com/Products.htm Quote Link to comment
Dantheman
I have used just dashes in the past. A little let down with the outcome. The price I was quoted on a 510 dash was the same as what you find oem dash pads going for. I am going for an oem my self. Quote Link to comment
Duncan
Just Dashes did mine. After a price was quoted and the dash dropped, they called and said they made a $200 error and wanted me to make up the difference. I blew a gasket and they honored the initial quote. The price was a tad on the high side initially, now it's ridiculous. Mine looks good, but I won't ever use them again after the pricing debacle.. 1 Quote Link to comment
HKS
Thats good to know. So I basically can't trust them is what it boils down to. Maybe I need to find an out of state specialist with a better reputation. 1 Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
The prices on these places are always ridiculous. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
This is weird. Cover to go over original dash cap that makes it look oem? Hmm http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-73-DATSUN-510-DASH-CAP-/121231367785?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c39f3de69&vxp=mtr Quote Link to comment

danfiveten
Ive never actually clicked to look at them since both my pads look brand new still LOL. Kool idea i got to say, does cover up very nicely...better than 6-8 hundred to fix the dash if you just wnat it to look good. Quote Link to comment
ptown green
I sanded all the cracks and stuff smooth then covered in a few layers of fiberglass and sanded that smooth, painted it a wood brown and then had wood grain pattern hydro dipped on and cleared over that. I love it! Quote Link to comment

danfiveten
Never cared for the wood look...but that looks pretty damn cool. Quote Link to comment
Tristin
I want one of those turn signal knobs! You should dip your steering wheel so the woods match. Sorry, but that knob was a one-off for myself while I was working as a machinist. 1 Quote Link to comment
Just Joel
You should dip your steering wheel so the woods match. Or make the dash match the wheel (always liked that tone)... One or the other so long as they match. 1 Quote Link to comment
ptown green
Yeah I plan on getting a different wheel that matches a little better to the dash. The nardi ones arent that far off Quote Link to comment
