goes2fast
Back in my "Flatbed Days" we were on the express division of International Transport and never had the luxury of stopping for anything. If roads were closed we had to reroute and keep moving. We hauled jet engines, machinery parts, and so on. One time we picked up a single gear (2000#) from Bucyrus Erie in Pocatello going to an open pit mine in Virginia and went through hell to get it there in 3 days. The only time we weren't in a big hurry was when we had a load like this. an 11 ft. wide half of a Cat rock truck body. 6 Quote Link to comment

Wyoming has gates on the freeway ramps. When they close them, anyone who drives around them gets a huge ticket. Bypass a gate and then get stuck or in an accident, the driver gets arrested. My license and job aren’t worth the risk. I hauled a few jet engines too. This one for UPS, picked up in Columbia, SC, took to Atlanta, where it was put on a 747 and flown to Singapore. 3 Quote Link to comment
Stinky
If I remember right, those semi trucks, if they were in the Camaro and Mustang class, they'd be right in the middle of the pack....IOW, they are faster than half of the muscle cars (which are not factory supported, they are just CO racers). And you are right, Playground. What is all that white stuff? 1 Quote Link to comment

US30 through Medicine Bow for example. You younger generation truckers are spoiled. That pic reminds me of the time we loaded a 747 engine for United Airlines in Chicago to go to their repair shop in SFO. The mechanics had helped us tarp it and when we got to SFO and pulled the tarp there was a half full can of Coke sitting there still upright. That was amazing considering the usual condition of I80, Kudos to air ride! 2 Quote Link to comment

Besides, I was 14 feet wide, so no two lane action without pilot cars. 1 Quote Link to comment
