LaidoutRivi63
Stockton is a good 3 hours away. I wouldn't recommend that here, my dogs weigh in over 140 lbs and most my guns are over 30 caliber! B) 2 Quote Link to comment

BadWagon
I find this thread insanely motivating and so discouraging all in the same... you have skills man. I can likely build a fiberglass 510 with 3 pieces of bubble gum and a gallon of resin, but metal is my kryptonite. I am embracing the challenge and moving forward. Thx for sharing your work!!! LaidoutRivi63
Not much to update today, smacked my head on my lift really hard at a brisk walking pace so it put me on my ass pretty good. Finishing up the gas tank situation. Im using a 65 mustang tank that I have removed the filler neck from, and will be putting a new filler neck in the side of the tank so my fuel filler will be in the rear corner of the cargo compartment. I'm using the stock Datsun wagon cap and neck in the floor. I also finished half of the tank mounts today before smashing my skull, ahaha also, I played with the exhaust placement a little for what ill be tackling next week. 1 Quote Link to comment

LaidoutRivi63
ok, so it has been a while. Been working to much so I'm barely getting down to the nitty gritty now. Small update: Gas tank conversion is completely finished now. Here is a pic of the frame that supports the tank nearly finished. All the open tube ends have been capped since then to finish it off, and the tank was spot welded to the frame. The little dip in the frame was for the new filler neck, hole is cut and filed here Filler neck welded in, "beaded," and leak tested Rear tank mounts knocked out Fuel filler and cap relocated to rear floor, not a bad look I must say Then it was time to finish the spring perch. These photos are before it was completed. After welding was finished, a tubular brace was added across the top, between the gussets, to prevent it from deflecting Lower spring clamp fabbed and bolted into place. Forgive some of my welds. I have been having issues with the wire sticking in the liner and feeding inconsistently. Must be dirty or something. Gotta make a trip to the weld supply house next bottle fill to pick up a new one. The bolts are long because, if need be, a spacer can be placed between the top perch and the spring to lift the rear of the car for heavy loading. This, combined with similar spacers for the shocks (which I should have figured out and underway tomorrow) will allow you to prepare the car for heavy loads. Just keeping the option available. I'm currently fitting the factory sedan emergency brake linkage today. Should work without issue. Also, here is a detail shot of the spring to spindle interface. You can see how nicely everything fits with one another. I still need to finish the shackle plates by shaping them a little on the ends so they have a bit more clearance. They don't interfere now, but I would like a bit more space around the ends. 1 Quote Link to comment

LaidoutRivi63
<iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10151662960153071" width="568" height="320" frameborder="0"></iframe> Here is a video I took a couple days ago. Really advanced suspension test! ;) Mind you, no shocks yet, but when I jump on it, I cannot get it to bottom the travel out. It should ride pretty well once I get some properly valved shocks on it. 2 Quote Link to comment
