mhub91
4 hours? I'll custom the mount for 1 hour ($80) charge You got a deal. Literally. I'll pay you $100 if you're being serious. I would like to keep the KA trans because I know it will be strong enough for the KA, and after all, it was made for it.... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Epoxy weld it up. ... and that post lives on... 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Beebani is a member here. Look him up. He is the guy that makes all the disc brake brackets for the trucks. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Are the drivelines between L and Z different? If so, I'd be willing to trade mhub my driveline straight across. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
They are the same. But different for different vehicles. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
They are the same. But different for different vehicles. We both have A10s. His L. Mine Z. His sedan. Mine wagon. Just have an L project coming up and this is the only driveline I have. So the splines would be the same? I'm guessing they are the same automatic transmissions too? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
All four have same splines Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I see. It's good to see you posting again, gzilla. I hope you'll be around for my next project. Coming soon. I know you'll have plenty of input to give on this next one. Quote Link to comment
Fat510
I wouldn't hold my breath Quote Link to comment
mhub91
datzenmike, if I'm understanding you correctly I could go to the pick n pull and grab a 71B trans from a Z24. Mount it to the KA and it would still bolt up to the A10's trans crossmember and to where the L series would bolt up in the trans tunnel? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Everything but the trans mount. No way to know how well it would line up. I went from short 26" L four speed to longer 71B in my 710 by using an automatic driveshaft and moving the trans mount back one bolt space on the body. I presume the A10 is similar. Even so the mount needed to be cut and sectioned and welded up. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
As I recall the A10 had three different length transmissions. So plan carefully. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I assume auto 4 and 5 speed? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Early 4spd, late 4spd, auto. L20B and Z20 are same I think. 4spd and 5spd used same driveshaft I think. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Wasn't the 4 a long, but the 5 was a short dogleg? Then the auto. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
I know early ones came 4spd and auto. the only 5 spd was the KHLA10, which was a 2 door 'hatch' back, or fast back. which ever is the proper term. Quote Link to comment
alexmeans
I know early ones came 4spd and auto. the only 5 spd was the KHLA10, which was a 2 door 'hatch' back, or fast back. which ever is the proper term. Not entirely true. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I know of a 4 Dr hatch that came with a dog leg. Quote Link to comment
alexmeans
Yep, I apparently have one of those weird ones.. I 4 door hatch 5 speed dogleg, and 8 plugs. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
KHLA10 proper term is Coupe. Although Nissan marketing used the terms multi-coupe and open-back. You might also call it a hardtop. Most Zs were 8-plug including a million Datsun trucks. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
the only 5 spd was the KHLA10, which was a 2 door 'hatch' back, or fast back. which ever is the proper term. I've got 3 5spds on the floor. One came from a 2dr hatch, one from a 4dr hatch, and one from a 2dr sedan. I've actually never seen a 4spd here. And as I recall, I think the 3dr hatch only came as an early L-series car, and the 2dr sedan only came in the later Z-series cars? Quote Link to comment
Fat510
Nope 2dr sedan had a Lseries Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Nope 2dr sedan had a Lseries Not surprised, just never seen one with round eyes... Maybe it was the 4dr hatch that only came Z? Seems like there was at least one body style that was early/late specific... Quote Link to comment
