Another saga begins...got another KA24DE so i'll be starting a complete rebuild - first time so hopefully i don't F something up.

Got this Ebay rebuild kit...having seconds thoughts about it. Bearings won't work for me and although i've read about people running these with no problems i'm not 100% sure about testing my luck. Might return it and go another route.

Here is the KA24DE that i picked up for a under $300 - it had a rebuilt autotragic transmission and supposedly was in perfect running condition, but i'll still rebuild it.

Few hours later it looked like this...

Off to the car wash for a de-greasing.

Probably not a good way to clean the alternator but i've gotten away with it a few times before so let's see if it works after this.

And while i sit and wait, why not snap a photo of the truck?

Saw this at a restaurant a few days ago, i was laughing my ass off.

Friend of mine just got a fresh paint job, so i snapped one for the books.

And my rb25det engine bay once more.....got the valve cover so had to snap one for you guys.

Met some really cool datsun guys at a local meet a week ago and while hanging out noticed this thing out of the corner of my eye...

Here is how the truck would look like if i dropped it another inch...

Yeah i put it up for shits and giggles. My friend really wants to buy it from me so i might have to take it down, but you know how it works with friends, they want a ridiculous deal on the vehicle because they are friends. HAHA. I bought a new car so i'm debating about keeping or selling this thing. I love it but still needs a bit of suspension work, brakes need to be looked at, and that valve guide rattle is annoying the fuck out of me.

That rattle would be the timing chain just had mine all redone.

Nope, it's coming from the top and my guide is removed at the top. Plus the collector where the rattle is coming from has a bit of oil sludge on it and engine smokes randomly. Sometimes i go a week without a puff then other times it smokes for about a good 30 mins, and loses a bit of oil, i check it often and refill if needed. Pulls like a beast, just needs that damn suspension looked at or may be its just the brakes, either way i'm still on the fence about selling it. I might post it up on ratsun, i'm only willing to sell it if i get my asking price or something near it.

I ended up going with CJ7 ends. There are 2 different versions of them but both fit fine they are just different lengths. Make sure they make it the right size from one end to the other. Mine was short so i had to get some CJ7 tie rods that were longer. The ones they sent me were some generic brand anyways so i got AC Delco if i recall. And the whole center link was $119.XX i found the receipt this weekend - thats tax/license/registration/vehicle destination fee etc. HAHHAHAAHAH.

Well the truck is sold. I miss it already, damn it, damn it, damn it, not sure if that was a good decision. I do want to snowboard and surf more so i guess selling it works for now, but i'm damn sure i will never find another 620 in such great condition ever again.....the body was very clean, just needed some wiring finished up and the suspension might need an adjustment, or may be the brakes. Well i'll still be around, so if anyone ever has questions about my build etc, please feel free to contact me.  :crying:

He told me that he found my truck on ratsun and really liked the build. I give him full permission to take over if he is following this. I'll text him and let him know he is welcome to continue on with the project. I believe it ended up in the right hands, can't really say the same for my 240sx. The 240 went to some kid who reminds me of one of my good friends, "status is more important than performance, and taking corners is completely acceptable" not a big deal at this point i just hope to see it someday at a meet or on a forum and not crashed or parted out haha - really should not judge he was a nice kid and seemed to appreciate what he bought, i just know age sometimes is the determining factor in doing reckless/crazy things - been there myself.

I freakin love the truck! Such a fun car to drive!

Ill do my best to keep the thread running, but i seriously lag when it comes to updating (camera doesn't work well and i always seem to find other endeavors to do instead)

My main things right now:

-get the brake booster replaced so i have nice working brakes.

-check the torsion rods in the front to see if that's where this pulling right is coming from.

-find the "ticking" noise (think it might be the timing chain tensioner?) only makes the noise when cruising with almost NO load on the engine, goes away with any load added

-fix the sun roof seals

-make mounts for the radiator, fuel pump, and whatever else needs to be better mounted

-install the helper springs and raise the front an inch or so (i know people are going to hate that, but its going to be a user truck, i need the little bit of extra travel. also putting a bed tool box on. again i know not everyone will like that, but its too functional for me not to!)

-clean up the interior, tuck wires, build a clean dash piece around the gauge

-replace oil pan gasket (or stop the small leak somehow)

-install the speedo cable and get that sucker working

-helicoil the stripped valve cover bolt holes (resealed one near the back in the center of the cover with a teflon gasket. used to leak like crazy! now, nothing)

-install second door popper/interior door popper buttons/starter button and fail safe (already had engine running and closed doors, luckily grabbed spare clicker and opened the door)

-clean up the engine bay

-spray bed liner

-clean up the bondo areas, get some color match paint, then try to clean up the paint some

more worried with

1)safety

2)performance

3)safety

4)looks

wont be my first car that's modded, but ive got ALOT to learn about this platform and the engine, but look forwards to it!

Yeah, it's got many little things that are unfinished. Like I said, once I got it running I was more interested in driving the damn thing than fixing it. It is definitely the most fun car i've ever owned, i don't know what makes it so much fun to drive but i miss that thing already. I'm so stoked that it ended up in good hands, and I / we will be looking forward to the updates.

been working a bunch so havent had much time to work on it.

got a new windshield gasket in, which is nice and water tight, but the roof still leaks like a beast even after sealing it with silicone sealant.

bought the wrong brake booster (got a 9" ugh) so brakes still suck

the radiator got air in it somehow so it overheats, need to burp the system and put a stronger cap on there.

its gonna be a SLLLOOOWWWW build.
