Kirden
Wow man. Glad you made it out ok but how is the truck? Honestly there are a lot more humans than Datsuns still lying around... Seriously though, how is the truck? 2 Quote Link to comment
mantas
Wow man. Glad you made it out ok but how is the truck? Honestly there are a lot more humans than Datsuns still lying around... Seriously though, how is the truck? Thank you, i'm really glad i didn't burn the hell up  . The truck is doing great, besides the fuel delivery issue it is all good to go, i need an alignment asap, and just need to move the pump back. I wanted to take some pix of the driveline and my custom link but the phone died right after i got the car on jacks and then it totally slipped my mind. Work and this nissan is killing me right now. The "wife to be" and I are carpooling to work but i'm hoping my Datsun fixes that problem by next week  . 1 Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Haha, glad to know the truck made it out ok :) Carpooling stinks. Esp with the wife/fiance/gf cause then you don't get that free driving time. For me the drive to work is when I can let stress out with loud music and just relax. Quote Link to comment

I feel the same way when I get to drive solo to and from work - music or pure silence and some time to relax. The past week was tought to handle especially when half the time i can't get out of work on time and she has to sit in the parking lot for 10-15mins - the drive home becomes much harder to handle if you know what i mean. Kirden
Yea, I know exactly what you mean. Me and my ex used to work together, but I was a supervisor so she would get to the parking lot 5-15 minutes before me. Long rides home... I spent everything I had to pick up an old beater (my slammed B2200) just so we didn't have to ride together anymore. Quote Link to comment
mantas
At Last! I finally got some updates. Why have i been away for so long? Well life got me by the horns, have not really messed with the datsun in God knows how long. Been doing a little bit of snowboarding so that took a few weekends away from the datsun project. Had to sell this German POS car. I absolutely loved the car but it has so many computers and sensors etc that working on it is impossible. Yeah the valve cover gasket cost me an arm and a let, had to redo timing on the vvt cam or whatever its called. The stealership had to set the timing so......$374 later it was back together. Then a week later had a ignition coil go out. Another $372, all because i could not get to doing the job myself. Then a few days later i do and oil change and hear Tick Tick Tick. Took that German garbage to CarMax and sold it. Getting my 2013 AWD Juke S delivered tomorrow. Then i had to deal with this little whore. Clutch and Flywheel again? Yup you bet, the shit organic material clutch was slipping, so i went and got a new 6puck from act and a Jim Wolf lightweight flywheel. What else is new? Had to work on this damn camaro a few times, here are two of my friends trying to get the springs in place. They are not married to each other as far as i know, but looking at that picture makes you wonder. Then i got a few snaps of this beaut at the local nissan dealer. Just hanging out with some celebs. HAHA. FINALLY HERE IT IS Had a clogged filter and a leaking hose on top of the tank. No pics just a video, going to start cleaning this thing up so i can get some driving done. http://s1143.photobucket.com/user/montyismonty/media/3E8DB369-0ECD-42D7-A4C7-A0EFC3724B21-826-000000E75ADE40B8_zps4ce1bec8.mp4.html Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Did you tell her she should have knifed the Governor when she had the chance? Bet it felt good to drive it finally :D 1 Quote Link to comment
mantas
We talked for a good 5-10mins but we went over the governor thing a few times. She did not say it but you can tell she does not agree with some of the direction in the show. Do you know what is insane? Me and three of my co-workers were literally talking about her and she come out of a corner and was about to sit at the table behind us. My jaw almost dropped and she said hi to me, right away i replied wih - omg we are talking about you in the show. Im not one of those people that gets star struck but the coincidence of that happening? Has to be one in a trillion hahahha. Quote Link to comment
mantas
So i drove the datsun today quite a bit and it is a blast to drive. Moves pretty good but not nearly as fast as i thought it would be lol. Even though, im very pleased with the ka power. I should have plenty of updates and pics coming up soon. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Have you changed your rear gearing yet? 1 Quote Link to comment
mantas
Nope its the good old 73 garbage. What kind of gears would be a good fit for the 620? Quote Link to comment
nis720
Nice build... I would either go with 3.73 or 3.90 gearing for the KA. 1 Quote Link to comment
mantas
It's alive! I can't wait till this weekend to clean up the wiring get the wheels on and fix the brakes. Hopefully i can get a set of calipers and discs to do my conversion, otherwise i'll just bleed what i have and let it be for another week. Also ordered some helper springs to help with the horrible bounce in the rear. And finally I got my JUKE! AWD 2013 S model. It does look like a rhino and when i first saw one i almost puked my gutts out....somehow the look grew on me and after learning it was AWD 1.6L Turbo I had to have one. Very fun to drive with the CVT, no shifts it just moves and has plenty of go, unfortunately it's for the wife to be, so i won't be driving it much. Quote Link to comment
heretic
...... when i first saw one i almost puked my gutts out ...... hahahahaha yeah they haven't grown on me yet :) Quote Link to comment
mantas
Thanks for the congrats! I'm very excited about my Datsun running - so much that I kind of don't care about driving the Juke HAHA. It's not quite done yet, actually its so bouncy and the brakes pull so much to the left that i don't trust driving it further than a few blocks from the house. Quote Link to comment
mantas
As much as i'd like to believe that my datsun truck is road worthy, it simply is not the case. Ive been driving this thing all over town and all is well, but i do have to work out a lot of issues so this thread will not come to a halt anytime soon. Updates below. Or not!!!! Ipad wont let me do any picture uploads but i have plenty of good pics on the way. Quote Link to comment
k-autic
How about some driving around town videos??!!!! Quote Link to comment
mantas
How about some driving around town videos??!!!! Not a bad idea. I'll see if my camera is still alive, been in the garage for quite some time and i'm sure it has been droppen a number of times lol. I need longer wheel studs and all of the ratsun threads don't have definitive answer to this, anyone know which ones fit? If not i'll keep searching but anyways. Here are some OICS. TIRE/WHEEL TEST FITMENT!!! Need to get this done ASAP! But in order for these wheels to go on i need new studs/tires/stretch. Had to do something about those letters in the tailgate. I hate how hacked up it looks but until i come across a decent tailgate this will have to do. Painted some Plexi Glass and it was done. Also got sick of the Chain Rattle so did this with Liquid Electrical Tape. Quote Link to comment
mantas
Thought this thing was a LADA but it turned out to be a FIAT instead. Same car but basically the Communists took the FIAT which was already a POS and made it worse - seems very communist like.... And take a look at this old gas station in Pasadena CA. I love things like that, reminds me of the good days in America - of course i was not even born and if i was i would probably still be in a communist controlled sh][thole. Well that night we got to the helper springs. The rear end does not bounce nearly as much but the ride height is not looking too good. Had to cut the u-bolts, they were too long, but the darkness came very quick. Quote Link to comment
mantas
Thought i was done updating the thread and then i remembered this....sorry if it's someone's ride on here and i didn't get rid of plate numbers. In this picture, if you look across the street, that blue thing is my 620, almost the same freaking color. LOL. And then this thing again....HAHA. This 350 block is looking better each day. Then again the ride height......I don't know, might need some coil overs in the back instead of shocks. Seen it done before but not quite sure how that works with springs lol. Been driving with all this junk in the rear. Oh the interior. Finally got my fans and temp gauge working. And this is after i've driven the thing for miles and miles. I was not too affraid of overheating because i would come to a stop and check the temp by hand - each time i could hold my hand over the hoses or hold it on the valve covers for about 10 seconds - would not recommend using my temp sensor (HAND) Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Looking good. Not sure about those wide ass wheels, but hey it's your truck :D That Camaro is tits  Quote Link to comment
mantas
HAHA. Those wheels are wide but it's been my goal to stretch the fenders and slam the truck. Going to be a tough thing to do but i'll make it happen within time. Went to the alignment shop and was told i need adjustable outer tie rods to do my toe, i thought our 1973 used jsut the center link for setting toe. Anyone know the answer to this? mantas
Ladies and gents. Its been all set, just need brakes asap and a front wheel bearing replaced. Otherwise its good to go. First proper bath. These are all before the bath. These pics were taken shortly after i got my fenders pulled, new exhaust installed (magnaflow muff with a 2.5" pipe and dual tips), and alignment. The exhaust soudns like a honda in a way, but i don't really care. It's loud and cops don't bother me so i'm in the clear for now. I'm really liking the way the interior came out. Hate the stretched tire look but this was the only way to fit these wheels. Running Falken 512's 215/60/15 on 10x15" American Racing wheels. This is the "before" Quote Link to comment
k-autic
it looks great! i have those same wheels, but we need some videos o also what all did you delete from the engine? Quote Link to comment
