]2eDeYe
That is exqctly what ill try doing today. Hard to find the tubing but i know of one place that definitely has it. Then ill have to figure out how to get a bit to reverse the threads lol. Check your local offroad shop, they should have the tubing and the tie rod ends in stock. A good shop will be able to tap the tube for you as well. Quote Link to comment
southern620
I realy like the way the 240 radiator looks in there. Do you have any oics of exactly where it falls out by the high beams? Quote Link to comment

However there is a metal supply warehouse and i know they have tubing in the size i need, it might just be furnace tubing but nontheless it is thick (thats what she said) so i think that will work, and the only machine shop i know off is close to the metal supply store. Hopefully i get that squared away by end of day. Then ill go grab some racing bucket seats - bride knock offs. Anyone know if those fit? And i made a decent chunk of change trading options today - guess where that money is going.....hehehe Quote Link to comment

Ill snap a few pix and post them up a bit later today. Have to figure out this center link situation first lol. Thinking ill take the jeep drag link, cut it shorten it, weld up the middle by a pro, then put dom tubing around it and weld each end as well. Should be golden after that. Quote Link to comment
mantas
No updates today. All of the machine shops i spoke to refused to thread DOM tubing or cut the Jeep drag link and shorten, weld, put tubing around it and weld again. So i found a comapany in CO that specializes in DOM tubing and tie rod link kits for Jeeps/Toyotas - they are going to make the DOM centerlink for me granted i findout what pitch and size thread the CJ tie rods are. Now on of the requested pix, also i have tons of random parts laying around if anyone needs anything - check out my for sale thread, thanks. Here are the KA radiator pix... THE RADIOTOR IS NOT TOUCHING THE TOP OF THE FRAME, JUST LOOKS LIKE IT. YOU CAN STILL FIT A FEW CAT HAIRS IN BETWEEN THE RADIATOR AND THE FRAME LOL. ONCE AGAIN PICS A DECEIVING Quote Link to comment
southern620
Thanks for the oics. Is the hood gonna close? Quote Link to comment
h190
Cool swap and all. One question. Why did you cut the tranny tunnel hole cover? Why not just move it back a few inches and screw it down? Then you could have used a factory rubber boot and it would have looked factory. Quote Link to comment
mantas
Cool swap and all. One question. Why did you cut the tranny tunnel hole cover? Why not just move it back a few inches and screw it down? Then you could have used a factory rubber boot and it would have looked factory. To be honest yours looks good but mine sitting in the same position would hit in 4th and reverse. I dont know if its the way the engine is mounted or how the tranny is mounted in. So i kept moving it back and then realized the sided would be sticking out if i had it positioned where it was. So i ended up cutting the back piece, and figured ill have a friend weld up the front part of it and grind it down so it looks smooth - when the time comes. Does your shifter hit the cover at all? h190
Actually the picture is before I slid it back. In the picture it is in the factory position, I slid it back to where the shifter was dead center while in neutral and screwed it down with self tappers. It looks factory. Quote Link to comment

mantas
pure heaven in the late 80's and early 90's I called them about pitman and idler arm, didn't have it. I have this shop on speed dial in my phone.....ok i lied, but i have them in my contacts, i'll call them about the tail gate. As for the one i saw on CL - see the beauty below. I can't imaging how sweet that would look on my truck. I called this guy 3 times, he speaks absolutely no english but says its sold each time. I called him again and told him to take the fucking add down. It really pisses me off when someone posts an add and then renews it after the item is sold (he renewed the add last night after i called him - WTF!!!!!). It seems like the guy lives in some clown house because its always someone different picking up the phone. People in LA are such douchebags. Quote Link to comment
mantas
Alright the alternator works, headlights work, windshield wipers, etc. only thing is rpm gauge and temp gauge not working. Ill try and get those all squared away by the end of today and hopefully ill be able to pick up some seats for this bad boy. Quote Link to comment
mantas
Well well. Got the custom center link ordered, keeping fingers crossed that it comes in by the weekend. In the mean time i'll tackle the wiring of this bad boy, and i'll go over and double check everything. Also picking up some "racing buckets" tomorrow - $200 for 2 with sliders and brand spanking new. Moved the fuel filter and mounted it using a bracket for a 96 300zx - junk yard find. After listening to the rattle in the engine i figured it had to be the upper timing chain, so i yanked that out, plus after seeing 4-5 KAs at the yard with the timing chaing guides removed i was quite sure they were removed for a good reason. Let's just hope i don't skip a tooth. And i was really surprised at how clean the head and valve cover were. My RB25 is clean as hell the L18 was really clean and now the KA looks like a beauty. Been picking the right swaps i guess... Shifter knob and extension for it installed... Oh and have my stickers ready for when the glass goes back in. And last but not least - DOOOOONNNNUUUUUUTTTTSSSSSS!!!!! (Krispy Kreme - heaven) Quote Link to comment
mantas
These are the seats i'm picking up btw, except mine will have blue stitching to match the color of the beast.... Quote Link to comment

Mine won't look nearly as good but for now i'll be satisfied lol. I can't wait to mount them in so i can at least drive the damn thing when the center link comes in. After that i'm going to workout the rear suspension bumpyness. Quote Link to comment

bullitt210
Got the windshiled wiper arms from China. Took 2 months but i got them. Is it my imagination, or are those wiper arms for a RHD? Quote Link to comment

I only got the sticker because I found it on Amazon and i needed to use up a few bucks left on my giftcard. I know nothing about Datsun Mini Trucking but i'm guessing this sticker might need to come down HAHA. It was one of those moments - ohh looks cool, i'll slap that on my window. Is it my imagination, or are those wiper arms for a RHD? They look like it to me too, i honestly don't know but i'll have to find a way to use them or i'll forget the idea for now and only drive when it's sunny outside. However i've been screwed once by the weather - bright summer morning, hot outside, bam start pouring buckets out of the sky. I nearly crapped my pants with no windshield wipers doing 75 or so on the highway. Quote Link to comment
bullitt210
Rain-ex really does wonders if you keep it treated well. Those arms will still work for you, most people will not even notice. Quote Link to comment
mantas
We will see. LOL. I'm going to pick up the seats in a few hours, can't wait to get them home and start the install process. Quote Link to comment
