68Datsun510
Hey folks, recently scored 6 of these, in varying conditions. 4 are useable, 2 need repair. Stupid lightweight, like 8lbs. I "believe" they are 13x8s, so. Can they fit an un-flared car? What tire size? They have NO beads...unsafe?? Quote Link to comment
Tristin
It would all depend on the offset. I have 8s on the rears of my 4dr and I could almost tuck an 8 in the front. I have a bit of negative camber and 185/50/15s on them. Also, since they are 13s, you're going to have a hard time clearing anything but stock 510 brakes. Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
Plenty of room on the backside, the hub face is flat, and the barrel is "non invasive" like cast and steel wheels. The beads concern me the most...or lack thereof... Quote Link to comment
bonvo
no bead seems a little odd to me why would they not put a bead on them? Quote Link to comment
Tristin
I think the easiest thing to do would be to try to put it on the hub. It has to hold air... They wouldn't have made a rim that doesn't hold air. Your problem is going to be if you have to run any stretch. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
i was just thinking about that i personally wouldnt want to run stretch with no bead bolt them up and see how far they stick out past the fenders but i look at them and they seem like they would be just about perfect for a flared car Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
No flares, i would be miffed if i cant get these to fit... =( How much does rebarreling cost these days? Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Expensive. You'd be looking at probably 1500. Just mount them and find out for sure... That or figure out the offset. No need fretting over rebarrelling if they end up fitting. Quote Link to comment

Guest Rick-rat
What do you mean? no beads. Those wheels have the lips that the bead of the tire will contact Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
This rim has beads: Mine do not... Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
Well, what do you call that under the fresca can and on the other side? If they did not have a bead they would be flat all the way accross from outside to outside of the wheel, arte you talking about the small ridges on the wheels on the top? Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
A stain from where tires once were. Its absolutely flat... Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
OK just dont look flat in the pics,it has no lip on the outside at all? Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
Outside? Of course. inside, none to speak of... Scary... Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
I don't wish to argue, I would use them the ouitside is where the tire makes contact with the rims allowing them to hold air. Take one of thse rims to a tire shop and tell them they don't have a bead, see how long before they stop laughing. The inside you think is missing is no big deal on those wheels, just a difference in the way they are made Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
What's it's lacking is called a "safety bead". Way back in olden times all wheels didn't have them. Of course, way back when, tires had tubes too... ^_^ Pretty sure it's only a problem if you drive on a flat. If you have a blowout at speed that wheel is probably toast. 1 Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Find someone who specializes in repairing/working on wheels, then see what they have to say. Those are some sick wheels, by the way. Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
All three of you are right, datsunfreak clarified what I meant, the concern is I may have to run a slight stretch to fit. Without safety beads, eek. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
the concern is I get to run a slight stretch to fit. Fixed. B) You'll be fine. Just keep them aired up and check them often. 1 Quote Link to comment
68Datsun510
So what size should go on a rim like this, 185 60? 195 60? Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
195 millimetres is equivalent to 7.68 inches would be a slight stretch 205 millimetres is equivalent to 8.07 inches so offset is key Quote Link to comment
