So I've been breaking in the engine and everything is good. Except for a couple if things. One, I'm getting some pinging on the freeway when I have the throttle open all the way. I put premium and have the timing set to 8degrees. I put some Oreileys brand octane boosts and it still doesn't a little bit. I'm running flat top pistons and closed chamber A87 head( peanut head). Anyone have any thoughts?

did you set the cam timing the same way it was ?

and I am guessing you didn't have this problem before the rebuild

try 6 or 7 degrees if you cant make the ping go away

I think this is my bad.....

With all the rush.............I marked the wrong notch on the crank pulley.....

..................just dawned on me today.............

Now there's three things you shouldn't have me do.......

I'll have to consult with busta cause he took apart and assembled the engine. But I'm sure he did.

Ok so we came to the conclusion that in all the rush the wrong notch in the crank pulley was marked. So it wasn't at 8 deg, it was actually at 25 deg. Doh! So the right notch was marked and set timing to 16 deg. Pinging is gone now!! Now just have to adjust the fuel pressure and we're good to go.

Good to hear! I want a ride in the passenger seat this weekend.

Haha. Ok.

Fuel pressure is set, sorta. Gauge isn't reading correctly so we'll see how it goes. She's running great. Just have to grease up u joints, adjust valves and try to fix exhaust hanger. And a good and thorough wash.

Still messing around with fuel pressure. The damn gauge is all over the place. Was reading 3.5 earlier.

And finally installed the cig lighter. I can finally charge my phone!

Mostly been tackling the little things. Running great! Breaking in quite nicely.

I bought a liquid filled gauge it was around 35 bucks and it sometimes reads 0 with a brand new factory fuel pump

and the car has never run out of gas no matter how hard I drove it

i FIGURED FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE IS JUST FOR FUN
