Eagle_Adam
Bout damn time i started a build thread for my truck so here we go, I picked up this 74 620 autotragic about a year and a half ago looking like this Had a blown head gasket, a warped head, i couldnt hear it run, and the bed was full of decaying yard debris was what i was told when i picked it up but for $150 it was worth it so i tossed it on a uhaul traler and towed it home I dont have a lot of pics from what i did to the truck before i joined Ratsun (cus pics didn't matter till i joined :P ), but heres the story: So began the to do list. 1. a good cleaning and a to do list ( which never seemes to end :P ) 2. get it running 3. get it stopping 4. ................ So I got her all cleaned up and started dreaming as to what i wanted to do, now that she was not such a dirty little girl i figured i work on getting her heart beating again. I was told the head gasket was blown so i drained the oil and antifreeze and sure as shit they were mixed SO IT WAS OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!! After i got the head off it was obvious the cylinder walls needed cleaned and honed because i found sitting liquid in them. I ended up calling the guy i got the truck from to get some history and found out that he had the truck loaded with yard debris clear above the roof and blew the headgasket on the way to the dump. If you look at the pics from the day i got her you can see the yard debris have composted in the bed quite a bit so i figured the truck blew the head gasket and sat till i bought it -.- Here was the engine after a good cleaning: Rebuilt the original Hitachi carb after an engine rebuild on the L18, a new empi carb, and a 5 speed One it was running in driving i found a new seat with armrest and cup holders!! Now that she was running and driving i was starting to feel brave so i started on body work and paint stripped off the side molding and huge ass mirrors Repairing dents in the tailgate: Starting on the bed: The truck needed new tires so once again it went up on stands so i could toy with it :) stripped and cleaned 1st coat of primer 2nd coat of primer next to the 1st shiny and painted :D New tires, painted rims, and an alignment makes me happy ;) 1 Link to comment

No kidding huh! the guy had yard debris stack clear above the cab and blew a headgasket on the way to the dump. Made it to his work and it sat there for an undetermined amount of time. So i towed it home, cleaned out the bed and tore off the cylinder head to find blown rings in one cylinder. Ive done quite a bit to this truck to ill add more when o get a chance. Tomorrow i hope to tackle as much as i can on the list of to do's, im still waiting for parts from rockauto so the interior reassembly and DZ start will be tomorrow focus. Hopefully i can have everything fixed up by Friday so i can get back to cruising with my pup Link to comment

I've always focused on makin her run and stop but I do try to add the cosmetic fixes in when I can.
