Recommended Posts

Jrock, you and Tristan need to save your pennies and come for a trip to the correct side of Australia. The East coast is the place to be !

Perhaps when he makes his first million from his secret business idea he'll sponsor a trip over here for the pair of you.

yeah he told me about that whole pet porn website thing.....i wasn't impressed...

You can show us around... Show me to the nearest kabbob stand.

see there he goes again....

What I have found in taking out that sound deadener is to take a razor knife (or carpet cutter) and score a piece 2" or so wide by 4"-6" long. Put a chisel under it and tap it with a hammer. I have had very good luck using that method getting it to come off relatively clean. I got all of my passenger floor done in about 30 minutes or so.

It's much easier than scraping undercoating off....

The crazy thing is I've used similar methods with other cars as you describe, and achieved the same (quicker) results.

This goon is a bizzare mixture of the factory sheeting, and this horrible bitumen like substance which has made it more difficult than I've previously experienced.

Anyway, starting to see light at the end of the tunnel now!certainly won't be crying when this job is done :)

Yeh, I'm still deciding.

What the hell though, ill do the other three tomorrow (it's my bedtime here now) and see how they come out.

The thing on the front fender is a catch can (oil type overflow can) which I unearthed tonite whilst (still) looking for my number plate stash.

Now I've found it, I'll connect it up in the next couple of days.

Spray can (you call them rattle packs I think ?) for the wheel(s). Meant to be a metallic charcoal, but as you say, looks black in the photos. Having slept on it I've thought fuck it, I'll do the rest the same color and learn to like them.

Now you mention it, the catch can is a tad big. I'll look at fitting options today. If its too big I'll throw it back into the pigsty and it can get buried under some other pile of goodies till I go on my next treasure hunt.

To use an expression ive stolen off you, "dafuc is poke"

Amongst other things, poke is Aussie slang for intercourse. I.e. " I poked that girl with the big tits last night"

I know my goons a bit fucked :)

Assuming your referring to the gap between the back of the wheel and the fender?, we call this positive castor, 1600's (510's) love positive castor to improve steering/handling.

Photos a bit deceptive, it doesn't have as much as I want. Going to do the poor mans modification soon (cutting the tension rod rubbers) till I order my futofab rods.

Are you referring to track ? I.e how far the wheels stick out of the guards, if so, again photo is a bit deceptive.

Haha you're ridiculous J.

I was referring to track I guess... It's because the wheels poke out of the fenders. If its just the photos then no big deal; I'm sure it would come in a bit once it's lowered like you mentioned you were doing.

Here is the general breakdown of American stance terms:

Sunk- wheels and tires are too skinny for the wheel wells.

Flush- wheels and tires are just flush (duh) with the edges of the fenders

Hellaflush- wheels are too big for the fenders, but with the use of negative camber and tire stretch you get them to fit

Poke- wheels and tires are a little too big for the fender so they stick out a bit

Mexi-poke- Not a term used a lot outside some areas, but it's for wheels and tires that are way too wide on purpose so they stick out ungodly far. Usually done to low riders or mini trucks owned by Hispanics (where the name comes from)

That is too funny, Mexi- poke, how good is that !! :)

The poke/track looks a little wide due to the photo.

I'm running a lot of negative camber on the front end now I've put the adjustable control arms in, this may? Contribute to how it looks in the pics.

I'll take some photos from the front of the car today.

I'm wondering whether I should post a thread in the general forum on Aussie car slang terms, or just resign myself to learning, and referring to the American car terms.

Very nice! Color scheme is great.

Thanks mate !, the wheel color is growing on me, although wasn't happy when I first painted them earlier today.

Big thought from today is I need to pretty up the interior.

Now I've removed the tar from the rear section, need to rust proof everything, and also start to nicen it up a bit.

The wheel arches in the interior are terrible, and I'll be massaging them back into shape in the long term.

Probably give them a quick hit with a rattle pack tonite (oh no, American English time) :)

And, drum roll please, minor fuckup of the day award goes to....................................me!

Closed the bonnet for the first time today after installing the last of the strut brace, and, it hits.

Only just though. There's two minor dimples in the bonnet now, I think they add character :)

Going to shorten the catch can. Pulled the bottom off and it's going to be easy to do, just cut down by roughly a third, retap holes and refit bottom.

Roughing out the roll cage mounting points as well. Got to make sure I don't put it in the way when I mount the IRS.

Dug out a harness which will eventually mount off the main hoop on what we call a taxi bar.

The wiper motor has decided to stop working so need to fix that as well.

Wouldn't it be easier to cut a section out of the center of the catch can and weld it back together? Then you wouldn't have to retap any holes.

Yes, but, despite having a Tig my Aluminium welding skills with it ain't that good (yet).

Jrock, you are all types of wrong, but I guess you know this.

Sad thing is, you could be my twin which in itself is very scary.
