dobo
thanks guys, yeah sump is impossible to take off when in the car, learnt that the hard way Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
haha unlucky! it was up there for a while. I didn't think they fitted LHD cars? well I got another one and will see if it will fit LHD, or see what I have to do to make it fit. Quote Link to comment

dobo
Update time, i hate being busy, just want to be driving around in this! Thought I'd clean up the donk a bit while it was out of the car. I got the flywheel machined and bought a new clutch kit. I used the 4 speeds thrust bearing and fork in the 5 speed. "Fixed" the the tear in the rear seat by covering them up. hand made blankets from the OP shop :D Also made a new parcel shelf out of carpet and installed some speakers I put the clutch pedal and MC in last night but i cant get it to push the fluid through, the fork just flops in and out. think ill need a new one, it had been sitting for i don't know how long. and finally on the aesthetic front these came up for $180 and i couldn't resist. Enkei Mosports 15x6.5 +12's should sit alright and hopefully wont hit the front of the guard like my 14x6.5 +0's do. they are 3 piece so later on i can get them widened to fill the back out, or just get another pair from yahoo Quote Link to comment
zerow
[...]Also made a new parcel shelf out of carpet and installed some speakers Do tell how you "made a new parcel shelf" This one looks clean! Quote Link to comment
dobo
Well the cardboard one was cracked and brittle, and when i tried to get the one out of the parts car, it too cracked. So all i did was get some marine carpet and cut it to size. i was going to secure it with some sort of screws, but being jammed under the window and the between the seat, plus the speakers, its not going anywhere. zerow
The cardboard on mine disintregrated a loooonnnngggg time ago on my sedan. I was (and I am still thinking) that I am going to use plywood and build a new design. I kept the section close to the window, for the curve, but that was all I could salvage. I plan to do the same thing, carpet the piece and call it good. So, what you are saying is that the carpet is just glued down onto the metal? Quote Link to comment
dobo
Na no glue just straight on the metal. Its pretty thick carpet so the way i cut it, its jammed in place pretty good. i was thinking about making one out of ply as well, but i didn't really want to take out the window :P Quote Link to comment
dobo
alright so the Mosports are for sale. 15s just don't look right :P instead bought a pair of 14x7.5 -6 SSR MK1's they'll be going on rear and ill save up to buy fronts or bigger rears depending how i can get them to fit the front. anyway I'm also working on the car, not just whoring wheels. engine/5 speed is in. Currently working out how to start the fucker with the whole auto bypass and reverse light thing. Also was bleeding the front brakes i snapped off the bleeder, then the easy out i used snapped in it too. so ill have to take that out and probably get it helicoiled. apart from that should be ready soon! 1 Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
auto nuetral park switch can be just wired together, reverse switch should hook up the same. good work keep it up Quote Link to comment
dobo
So she runs, could not figure out the inhibitor, ended up running a new relay and bypassing the whole thing. took it for a quick spin with no brakes to check that all the gears in my mystery 5 speed work. car is also witting quite low now :D Also New SSR MK1s arrived fitment on the front. rear. Tyres will be on this weekend and then ill be able to see properly if they'll fit on the front, and how much gap there will be on the rear. all ive got left is to put the dash and interior trim back in, seat belts, front brakes and rust repair that little section. bonvo
push that dent in the fender out it might not come out perfect but its better then what it is now lol Quote Link to comment
dobo
yeah dents last on the list, just want to get it on the road. it does annoy me though. i think the whole guard is pushed in a bit as well. Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
Might be easier and cheaper to replace the caliper instead of paying a machine shop to helicoil the bleeder. Drill bits=$ + easy outs=$ + helicoil=$$$ and still have old tired caliper. Quote Link to comment
dobo
yeah I'm trying to source another 810 caliper. i do have a set of 260Z calipers, will have to see if they are the same bolt spacing also pick with the Mk1s. Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
now that looks like a testy 610 Quote Link to comment
dobo
everyone with a 610, has anyone cut or bent the front section of guard to allow front wheels to turn? it seems to bend in this is original and this looks cut? Quote Link to comment
dobo
i realize they really don't look that different and different model guards, but there is still a big difference in wheels gap Quote Link to comment
bonvo
i think your asking about rolling the fenders not an uncommon thing Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
I think he means trimming the front lower fender metal, wich I had to do several times. Quote Link to comment
dobo
yeah not rolling, the top of the guards fine its just in front. i mean cutting here Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
I have cut it and ive bent it, the bent fender felt stiffer or stronger but the cut one looked better and didnt catch a bunch of road muck. Quote Link to comment
ProjectFeint
Here's an idea, cut some of the material off but leave enough to bend back and make a small fold so it's not sharp... It's like the best of both worlds for what RedBanner said. 1 Quote Link to comment
