datsunfreak
Okay, maybe not that cheap, but cheaper than sourcing a JDM front bumper... :P Tim's B210 doesn't have bumpers at all. We were contemplating finding a way to make some kind of US-spec bumper fit the front. We tried maybe 5-6 different options (sometimes it's nice to have too many spares), and finally found one that's a decent fit. This is a 70-73 1200 front bumper. Fitted straight up it looked decent, but there was maybe a 1/2" gap between the grill and bumper at the center. So we took the bumper off, put it face down on the floor on top of some wood blocks and pushed down on both ends simultaneously to "straighten" it out a bit. Not only did we make it fit up flush to the grill, it gave us more clearance at the fender ends. Yes, it's tight, but it fits. Obviously to make it look "good", you'd want to shave the grill lights (or replace them with fogs) and mount the 1200 turn signals up under the bumper. You'll also need to make your own brackets, but that 's pretty simple with bumpers this light. Two simple S-shaped bracket at the sides, and a piece of flat strap steel bent up at each end with holes drilled in it will bolt them on at the center (one bolt to the stock bumper mount on the car, one bolt to the bottom of the bumper). Rear bumper is a no go, but hey... They look cool without the rear bumper, just not without the front. :P So, whose gonna try it? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
You can get camaro half-bumpers for $150 new, they fit any width car. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
You can get camaro half-bumpers for $150 new, they fit any width car. Each? Or the pair? If each, you're crowding JDM bumper price territory... Or do you just not want the B210 guys buying up the 1200 bumpers? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
For the pair. Not only is it a bargain, but it saves the 1200 bumpers, it would be so wrong to use one on a B210. Looks good on a 1200 too Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Freakin' sweet! I will totally do this, I already have the rear. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Freakin' sweet! I will totally do this, I already have the rear. I haven't test fit the rear yet, so you're on your own there. B) Post up if it fits. Quote Link to comment

B) Post up if it fits. No, I mean I have the JDM B210 rear bumper. Two actually, NOS. Now I just need to find a 1200 front bumper, hmmm. Edit: I seem to remember seeing that on a B210 before, it was one of those auction links that popped up a while back, had been hit in the rear though, so the pics weren't the best. Fit didn't look awesome though. Found the link: http://www.salvage-cars-for-sale.info/salvage/for-sale-datsun-b210-1978-MTM1MTE4NjA Edited May 14, 2012 by Dguy210 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I remember that too. The B210 was not very good, but it did have a non-US bumper! Quote Link to comment
legitimate_datto_scientist
that bumper was all bent up, coundnt really tell how well it fit. your underestimating how cheap some of us b210 owners are. im thinking about shaving down a 4x4, making it nice and sleek, then painting it black. bingo bango, jdm bumper Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
It does look good. I bugged my brother for one for a long time, are the sedan and the coupe bumpers the same on 1200s? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
1200 rear bumpers are all different 1200 front bumpers are all the same 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Fit didn't look awesome though. The only "awesome" fit is the JDM B210 bumper. ;) This is just a "good" fit. And looks better than no bumper at all. Quote Link to comment
fatman
I like but my car has LONG way to go before i can think about bumpers  Quote Link to comment
az_rat210
I was actually considering drilling out the shocks on mine, knocking them in to pull the stock bumper in closer and doing some serious cutting the stock U.S. bumper. Just have never gotten around to to it. I live in an apartment, no space no tool. Blah! Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
6 mph into a brick wall will get them closer to the body. No tools needed. Quote Link to comment

The 74/75 body shocks are shorter than the 77/78 and the bumper mounts at a different point to the bumper. So just swap out to the later model bumpers, which bolt right up, and you get about a 2 inch pull in, and retain functioning shock absorbers. Also I happen to think the chrome bumpers look better than the earlier models. Quote Link to comment
agentwright007
Anyone ever put a 1200 bumper on a 210 (b310)? I hate those damn rubber guards, plus mine are a bit rusted. I've been looking for a viable alternative for years Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
B310 is too wide for a B210 or B110 bumper. It's about 1.5" wider. Quote Link to comment
81sunnyson
no suggestions for an 81? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
A 1981 is not a B210, so create a new Topic like "210 owners, how to get small bumpers" and I'm sure you'll get some helpful responses. Quote Link to comment
Willdatsun
We got the small bumpers on UK B210, in fact none of our cars ever had impact absorbing bumpers. This is my 1975 Wagon. The rear bumpers on the wagons are actually B110 wagon bumpers. Did you get B110 and B210 wagons there USA out of interest? Quote Link to comment
B210GX
Will, no we did not get the wagons. Tell everyone to stop being cheap asses :) Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
no suggestions for an 81? Do what I did. Nut up and buy fiberglass bumpers from Japan. :P They really aren't that expensive. Mine were about $395 shipped. When you figure that's less than $200 each, that's not too bad. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Tell everyone to stop being cheap asses :) Telling B210 owners not to be cheap asses is like telling the sun not to rise. Quote Link to comment
