5dimer
So this week I made up a set of rear coilovers for cheap I used Subaru KYB struts with civic front coilovers all I had to do is grind the strut a little and make a rubber bushings on the bottom. And it works perfect the struts are shorter so can get you car pretty low and still have a ok ride! It cost me 30 buck to do it from junkyard stuff so I'm happy! 2 Quote Link to comment

jefe de jefes
Sweet! Looks good. Are those 15's or 16's? Quote Link to comment
5dimer
They are 15s 0 off set Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
What subaru did they come off of? This was a no weld project? were the top hats off the subi too? Quote Link to comment
5dimer
It was a 88 wagon.top hats are the stock Subaru ones. No welding at all. And the bushings I made where the tc trod rubbers I just ground them down to fit. Quote Link to comment
5dimer
I also got bigger washers but that's about it I had to bend the metal up where the top hat is a little and done deal. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Nice idea man. I have seen a few other cheap rear coilover ideas, but this looks the cleanest AND easiest. Quote Link to comment
paradoxx
this is really a low budget project. If those subaru shocks can get stiffer its a win! Quote Link to comment
5dimer
My car is pretty stiff. Quote Link to comment
FiveTenzo
So what's the max low they go? Quote Link to comment
5dimer
I could go down 2 or 3 more inches I think. Quote Link to comment
freekwonder
So the struts are from an 88 wagon, what year civic are the front coilovers from? Also what is the length of the strut fully extended and collapsed? Quote Link to comment
5dimer
It was a 91 civic I think. I will measure them when I take my wheels off next time. Quote Link to comment
