Jayden's 2012 Daily Driver

Recommended Posts

So, I have been with my current employer for a little over a year and half now and been in the same truck for that time. 2 weeks ago on the way up from Salt Lake I gotta message that I was to move my crap from current truck #74 to brand new truck #114. Yeah I was pretty happy.

Its a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia that had 24 miles on it when I "moved" into it. 2 weeks later, now, it has 4500 miles on it :) .

Here some oics

Engine oics....Detroit Diesel 15L 500HP 1850FT Lbs of torque!! Coupled to a Eaton Fuller 13 speed double over transmisson for some serious hill climbing power!! :D

I am generally haulin some pretty serious loads, usually 95,000 to 106,000LBS! On relatively flat freeway I get 5.7 to 6.5 mpg. In the hills it will drop to 4.9 to 5.5.

Well there she is. I am in this thing from Sunday afternoon till Friday afternoon. I do get home sometimes during the week for a night or two. I usually knock out anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 miles in that time up here in the great northwest.

OLLZ it gets better fuel mileage with a one hundred thousand pound load than my Jeep does empty!

What's your yearly income drivin rigs? If you don't mind me asking.

Well, my wife does not work, we are a 1 income family. It supports us pretty well. Not gonna get rich by any means. You can make 35-50k a year depending on what type truck you drive, reefer, flatbed, tanker etc.

I did 48 state for a while and for a married guy with kids it sucks. They give you 1 day off for every 7 worked, that blows.

Sorry~ no insult intended. Kaye typed this in quoting my sarcastic quip passing by. Grew up in a family trucking business doing short-haul, doing 600 miles/day at times. Quit driving in 86~ yet still have just shy of 2,000,000 miles under my belt. I'm guessing with such a cushy ride you're gonna WANT to rack up some miles with this rig~!

Peace~

Scott

Nah its all good...Been drivin 13 years and closin in on 2mil my self. With the tarping and extra stops and all, and the decent pay, 2500 a week is plenty. Every once in a while I will knock out 3000 but things have to go just right.

The "super singles" do help with fuel mileage. Something like 5-7%. When you multiply that by 50 trucks or so, it does make a difference. They also save weight over a set of duals. Those 4 single rims weigh about 500 pounds less than 8 regular rims.
