Aftermarket Tachometer Suggestions

Recommended Posts

What's up gang? So my speedo took a dive and i keep putting off fixing it, but in the meantime I want to add a tach to my 521. Just wondering what people are using on their Datto's. I'm thinking something basic and vintage looking cause my truck isn't gonna hit the track anytime soon, but i would like to know how high i'm reving at times.

I was thinking something like this

And here's a pic of my dash for reference

If you mount it on the steering column, it may be low enough to have the speedo indicate above the outer rim of the tach like a halo. Make a circle out of cardboard the same size as the tach and mock it up before you buy. That will give you an idea if it would fit. Try glancing at the "tach" to see if you think you can read it easily. Just might work if it is the right size

I bought the 80mm ProSport and it just took a shit last week after maybe 2 months, I do not recommend it. I am on the hunt for something else so I might fork out the money for a Defi unit, yet another case of you get what you pay for :hmm:

I like the old school approach, and I like keeping it cheap, so I picked up this.

It's at least as old as my truck but still "new in box", cheaper than a new aftermarket or original unit....

... plus it will fit the spot for the factory clock (or the tach on later models) in my 620 dash too!

It took lurking on eBay, a sniper program, many "too low" bids on others - but finally I scored a tach.

nice. I really like this one. I think we have a winner. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if 521's had a tach option from the factory?

I don't think there is a factory tach option for the 521's ... a column mounting would be my first choice.

I posted my find mainly to show what a little patients, and a sniper program, can score off of eBay.
