thisismatt
There are hinges with hinge pins, similar to what you have on a door in your house. The only pieces that could be missing, short of cutting off either hinge leaves, are the pins. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
And then latches on the outside at the top of the gate. There are also hooks inside the gate as well as on the truck for a chain. Quote Link to comment

Laecaon
Be very careful with the windshield. Rest it on a tire or something. That was the scariest drive of my life coming home with my windshield. Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
Yeah i know man, i'm thinking of taking a bunch of blankets to wrap it. Do HELP make a pin that would fit? where can i find the pin? i cant find too much on this. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
dont you have the lower part of the hinge attached to your truck bed? the tail gate is like a door (mentioned by matt) and the hinge attaches to the gate, and the frame (in this case the bed). So if you have the hinge still attached to the truck, find a pin that goes inside what you have. If you dont, but you do have some holes you have no idea what they go to, well then the guy may have removed the hinge from the bed and the pin is still there, with the gate. And if you see no holes, well someone may have filled them. It is also possible part of the above is true too. Then you will just have to make new holes... Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
It`s always best to haul windshield standing up .If laying down sometimes it`s own weight ( even cradled ) can break it.. Carter told me this and he`s a pretty smart dude.. Quote Link to comment

DanielC
521 tail gate pin. It is this long. 521 Tail gate pin. This is it's diameter. For you machinist types, .316 is an "O" sized drill. 5/16 is .3125. My pins have some rust and primer on them. They may actually be a few thousands of an inch smaller than the caliper is reading.
