Skulptr
Looks to me like oil pressure. But I added the oil gauge/volt pod from the jy and the pressure gauge doesn'twork. Any one know what color wire connects to it? That yellow one is the only one down there but has no connector. this is on an 86 z24 passenger side under the intake mani beside the oil filter Quote Link to comment

wayno
I beleave that is the oil senser hole, but what senser did you get out of the wreaking yard, the senser that makes the gauge work is huge and is a two prong plug, one for the oil light, and the other for the gauge. It is close to 4 inches long. This is what it looks like. Quote Link to comment
KELMO
Looks like it could be the oil pressure sensor if you just have a light, but if you have a guage you should have the one like in Wayno's pic Quote Link to comment
Jester
Good stuff. Now I know why my 720 oil guage I put in my wagon wouldn't read. Thanks Wayno. Quote Link to comment
Skulptr
Then thats my problem. I didn't grab a sensor. This one is single lead. Doesn't trip the light unplugging it though Quote Link to comment

If the light does not light the wire may be broken somewhere between the sender and the light or the light may be burned out. If the light works but not when connected to the sender then the sender is bad. On the oil pressure gauge option there is an additional Yellow/Blue stripe wire that when grounded should produce a full scale reading on the oil pressure gauge. If the gauge does not work the wire may be broken/disconnected or no power to the gauge from the dash harness. If the gauge works but not when connected to the sender, the sender is bad.m Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The light will not work if you disconnect the wire. That's by design. Every time you start the engine, confirm that the OIL light comes on in IGN, then goes out after the engine starts. If you don't check the light, it may not be working. Quote Link to comment
