bustedknuckles
the timing was good when i pulled the motor and i didnt mess with it at all but i was wondering if that could be an issue but how would the timing get out of whack if i didnt mess with it? Quote Link to comment

bustedknuckles
checked the timing again and that is good wires are in correct order could there be a vacuum leak someplace that would cause this to happen? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, and severe lean condition will do this. Quote Link to comment
bustedknuckles
ok thanks i will go thru the vacuum system today and check everything and i set the carb to factory specs i just do know why it would be doing this because the motor was running before i put it in my truck it has to be something stupid that im over looking i know i will feel like a jack a$$ after i figure it out thanks again for the help dont know what i would do w/o fellow datsuners Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
when you changed the motor did you swap the whole distrisbutor assembly or just pull the dizzy out ????? and used a different dizzy pount or pedastal.????????? this should be EZ to fiz. We are not mind readers but a swap from what to what and what parts were used or changed? Like motor was running fine. If it was why change it? get more specific. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Try 4-2-1-3. When it backfires trying to start, that often is the cause. Especially when swapping engines. Quote Link to comment
