sedition88
Oh yeah pretty close. I know during that time alot of the Shelby vehicles had similar seats Quote Link to comment
GRpufnstuf
Wait...what 80's Shelby Mustang? I don't recall any Shelby/Ford deals that decade Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Wait...what 80's Shelby Mustang? I don't recall any Shelby/Ford deals that decade I was going to say that, but didn't want to look like a dope for forgetting one of them... Quote Link to comment

sedition88
Well maybe I'm wrong then. The guy I got them from told me the seats were the only thing he could save after rolling his mustang Quote Link to comment
GRpufnstuf
I wasn't trying to be "right" about it I was just hoping the Alzheimer's wasn't setting in just yet. they are similar to the Mopar seat but obviously different too. Maybe an aftermarket Shelby/Mustang seat so more rare and moar cool? Quote Link to comment
abominable666
Just picked this up last week for 140$ 3 Quote Link to comment
orangie
What's the bed from? A Chevy Luv? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
What's the bed from? A Chevy Luv? Pretty sure all those stepside beds were aftermarket? They were common on LUVs, but were fitted to almost anything in the 70s. 1 Quote Link to comment
heretic
straight 80's goodness right there.!!! Just picked this up last week for 140$ 2 Quote Link to comment
heretic
The Chevy LUV was imported as a cab & chassis to avoid higher taxes & the beds were put on by the dealerships. Thats why SO MANY of them had a stepside.... not to mention I'm sure the aftermarket bed was far cheaper than the steel OEM one. Pretty sure all those stepside beds were aftermarket? They were common on LUVs, but were fitted to almost anything in the 70s. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The Datsun Pickup was imported as a cab & chassis to avoid higher taxes & the beds were put on by the importer. Doesn't explain why SO FEW of them had a stepside... Quote Link to comment
heretic
I have to disagree, not stateside they weren't ..... did they ship the gas tanks separate as well.?? ALL Chevy LUV's were however. The Datsun Pickup was imported as a cab & chassis to avoid higher taxes & the beds were put on by the importer. Doesn't explain why SO FEW of them had a stepside... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
You disagree with what exactly? Quote Link to comment
heretic
That the Datsun trucks were imported as cab & chassis ... maybe a few of them here or there but not as a "business practice" like the LUV You disagree with what exactly? The Datsun Pickup was imported as a cab & chassis to avoid higher taxes & the beds were put on by the importer. Doesn't explain why SO FEW of them had a stepside... Quote Link to comment
heretic
AWESOME pic.!!! but far from proves your point that could be any harbor. The fuel tank is mounted to the bed not the chassis. How did they move or load these vehicles? Then once they got state side how did they put them on auto transports? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
You really don't know much about Datsuns, or about the US import situation in the 1960s/1970s This has been covered on TV newspapers and Ratsun. Quote Link to comment
