This event has gain much notoriety the last couple of years and thank to all of you are are growing and making a difference in the lives of children at the holidays. Due to this notoriiety we have secured a new location in Riverside to hold this event. So mark this down on your calendars. The 3rd Annual SoCalROC Show-N-Shine Toy Drive will be held on November 20, 2010 at the Riverside International Automotive Museum, with several special guests. We have some really great things lined up this year, for more information log onto www.socalroc.net and click on the Show-N-Shine link in the Main Menu. We are looking forward to seeing you all there once again! Also: We are having a Contest! We have decided to have a contest on T-Shirt designs for our very first T-Shirt our Show-N-Shine Toy Drives. Here is what you need to do:Come up with a design for the back of our T-shirts (Roadster related and other Datsns), The art work much be as we would say in the old days... "Camera Ready", meaning, what you submit must be ready to give to the printer. We will ad the sponsor logos and that kind of fun stuff. All you need to do is submit a design by September 20, 2010. The winner will have their choice of a Coffee Mug and a T-Shirt, a Wall Clock and T-Shirt, or two (2) T-Shirts with their design printed on the back with or without the sponsorship logos. The Mug and Clock will not have sponsorship logos on them. The design will also be used on the event program cover and announced on the website and in our online publication "Roadster Ramblings". Please be sure to sign the submitted art work if you wish. We would like full credit to be given to the artist for the chosen design. We need these submitted in a .jpg format by September 20th. Please email them to this email address along with your name and mailing address. Your mailing address will be kept private. If you need information to draw from for your design log onto: www.socalroc.net and click on the Show-N-Shine link in the Main Menu. fairlady66 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Report Share Posted September 14, 2010 Dear fellow Datsun enthusiast, The 3rd Annual SoCalROC Show-N-Shine Toy Drive is November 20, 2010 and as it quickly approaches we are working hard to make sure everything is in place. As you can imagine, an event of this scale requires some attention to detail. Though our main purpose is to gather toys for the children, we want to make this a fun time for all and draw as many people in as we can; more people equals more toys. To draw more of the general public out we have some special guest to do a meet and greet and to judge a class of cars for the Show-N-Shine as well as for photo ops. Our sponsors have been gracious. Although their sponsorship is not in the form of funds, we do appreciate their much-needed support (more is still needed here as well). However, we are in need of some funds for this event. Our need is not huge; actually thanks to our sponsors and some club members volunteering, our needs are rather small compared to most events of this caliber. Nevertheless, we do have a need for this Toy Drive to be a success. Our funding goes towards a dual cause. First, we need money to pay for the expenses of the event. Second, we are holding this at the Riverside International Automotive Museum. This is a non-profit organization and they are letting us use their facility for free. Therefore, any leftover funds will go to support the legacy that the museum is working so diligently to preserve. If you can donate any amount, $10, $15, $20, $30, or $100 or more, it will go to a great cause and your name will be included on the card given with the toys when they are delivered. You can also designate your funds to buy a toy, just be sure to say so when making your donation. Funds can be sent via PayPal directly to cmb.assoc@gmail.com or it can mailed in by following the directions on the Show-N-Shine link below. Thats 16 days left to get your preregistration in for the 3rd Annual Show-N-Shine Toy Drive. You wont want to miss this years line up of fantastic guests and race cars like the 1970 Gurney Olsonite Eagle, the 1962 Maserati 62 3500 GTI, or the 2005 Maserati Spyder 90th Anniverary, or the original BRE Datsun Roadster and Ron Carter’s famous BRE 240z and so many, many more. Preregistering helps us to know what number to plan for. We know there is always some that register the day of the event, which is fine. But preregistering helps us in knowing approximately how many event pamphlets to have made up, how many goodies bags to fill, and what to have ready for food, drinks as well as getting the shirts and awards paid for in advance and to know how many needs to be ordered. Because we keep our entry fees so low to bring in more cars which mean more toys for the children we start each year’s event off with a budget of Zero. Preregistrations helps us in assuring a great event with nice awards and plenty of fun. It is not everyday there are six really awesome Race Car Drivers at a single event to meet and greet everyone coming for this great cause. With this in mind this years awards have been designed to have room on them so the winners can have them signed by any of our special guests that they desire. So get your registrations in, and get ready for a great day of Cars, Live Classic Rock, Live Radio Broadcast, Food, Awards, Many Great Raffles, 50/50, Vendors and most importantly, You Classic Datsuns! I know many that are planning on coming and registering on-site but unbelievable with two weeks to go for the pre-registration deadline coming up. Where are all the trucks, Z cars and 510s? This year we have 2 Z Car classes, 1983 and older (1st through 3rd) and 1984 to present (1 award for best newer Z Car) Great Raffles Prizes this year, Great Awards, Dash Plaques, Great Special Guest, and possibly a surprise guest - Live Radio Broadcast in the morning, live classic Rock band in the afternoon, Great Vendors, Awesome Museum, Food, Fun, Classic Datsuns, and You!
