had one and cut the fucker up to replace it with an L18 mani...

 

the manifold doesnt leak, doesn hit the ground, the primary tube aint gonna break off the flange anymore...

 

you can have the pieces parts from the header... lol

anyone have some dyno results from a built motor and some cost? :cool:

My C Sedan 510 L16 dyno'd at 141/hp with 116/trq, 12.5:1 compression, v912 head and about a 4K price tag.

Headers:

 

Expensive ones with ceramic coating will eliminate most of their faults, except their cost. On a stock motor any gain will be hard to notice. On a modified motor this is much different and the increase is exponential with the amount of motor mods. In other words the more power a motor makes the bigger increase when a header is used. Working backwards you can see that the less done to the motor the less you will benefit from a header.

 

Cheap headers often don't fit very well and some actually need to be 'fixed' in order to install them. Poor design and fit leads to leaks and having them come loose and need tightening, they may rub the steering or rattle. They increase under hood temperatures because of their increased surface area. They don't always have provision for warmed air to prevent carb icing. They are louder than a manifold. Cheap ones or un-coated ones get rusty, some are rusty in the box. You have to cut into your perfectly good down pipe.

 

If you get a header, specially a cheap one, save your exhaust manifold so you can put it back on later.

 

Placebo effect in medicine: The more a person believes they are going to benefit from a treatment, the more likely it is that they will experience a benefit. If you expect an increase in power from a header you will believe that you actually feel it. This effect is also increased directly by how much money you spent on them.
