LeX
So here are a few pics of the couple things going on so far with my 83 maxima rb20det swap LD28 bout to come out size of LD28 vs RB20 preliminary fit The motor basically 'drops' in. In theory, you could redrill the stock mounts and just run it like that, but the shifter sits just a tad too far back so I am having spacers made to get it sitting just where I want it for proper shifter placement. There is a ton of space in the front so you can retain the clutch fan (which I am doing for now) or get nice electric fans, and still have clearance and space for a FMIC. (running stock SMIC just for right now) RB20 transmission is not big so its an easy fit in the tunnel. Stock driveshaft length may be correct as well... spline count is right to fit into RB. Should also be able to keep AC/PS no problem with just some fittings. Downpipe just needs to be changed out for clearance of steering, and bottom mount setup is fine with just a different downpipe. Everything else has ample clearance. Thanks to John and the crew at Garage Zero, we should knock this one out pretty fast Quote Link to comment
Edz280zx
I've thought seriously about doing the same thing to my 84'. Figured it would be way simple! Quote Link to comment

DatsunMotorSports
If the LD ever gives out in my 82 Goon Id probably go with an automatic RB25DET. With Z31 200r mounts the RB should bolt in with the automatic and fit right up to the stock driveshaft. In Theory at least. Thats what you do to replace the L series in the Z. Though I do not like where the RB sits with that setup in a Z. Should be fine for the 910. Ray Quote Link to comment

Ray Yeah, I bought the maxima with intentions on doing the swap after waiting a few months, but turns out the motor was knocking so I had to go right into it asap (plus reverse on the LD28 5spd was out) Quote Link to comment
72240z
Should be fine for the 910. 810 I'm glad to see the project moving along, it's so bad ass. Was going to i.m. you the other day to ask you about it but forgot lol. You have body/suspension plans? How much shipped for the ld crank? :-) Quote Link to comment
Edz280zx
810 lol...this is quite the debate over on JNC.. Quote Link to comment
SHADY280
dang beat me to it, i was gonna ask about the crank. yeah the rb's bolt right in with driveshaft and all, you just have to modify the tranny mount. real simple swap compared to others ive seen. i wish i had done a rb25 in my 280zx daily. but hey ill do it to the racecar instead Quote Link to comment
LeX
the body is fine actually, just needs a wash and buff and only rust on the car is one rocker hole but nothing else at all. crank is already spoken for haha Quote Link to comment
