UPDATE! 3/17/12 up and running! =D (for a while now actually) but i gotta show you how i got there =) so...

where i left off... got it to my dads shop and finished the command center idea

welded some square tubing to the firewall, with hardware facing out so the hinge can bolt to the door

2011-11-25_17-54-55_718.jpg

since im mounting all fuses and relays on the door but didnt wana see screws my dad came up with this.

2011-11-25_20-03-11_656.jpg

door mounted! =D worked great and as planned!

2011-11-25_20-19-03_750.jpg

2011-11-25_20-19-24_867.jpg

ended up welding some nuts on the lip of the front panel to fasten the door with allen head bolts. love it!

(have to post pic later i guess i didnt take one) =(

new stuff to put in! $90 ebay header, clutch line, shortened driveshaft!

2011-11-26_10-08-41_788.jpg

had to cut the end on the driveshaft off since it hits the floor, but the feet warmer installed! =D

2011-11-26_20-22-29_459.jpg

decided to stick with hardline for the clutch, for the sake of eventual cleanliness .. hey i only messed up one stick! haha

2011-11-27_17-28-15_242.jpg

2011-11-27_17-28-30_58.jpg

the driveshaft slipped right in of course! but the shop that did it said the input shaft (not sure if thats what its actually called) on the 240sx driveshaft is the same as the 510... so he just shortened it and it works great!

then got this beauty

Hey Nick,

I've been wanting to do this to my 510 for a while but just can't seem to find all the info I need. Parts, hole location, etc. I'm sure you had these struts sitting around or found them on your last trip to the JY, but what car are they from? And are your hole locations working out? A friend of mine randomly tried doing this and it didn't work out at all, and how he got swiss cheese hood hinges

well at this point the beast is running! and man, after two LONG years of not being behind the wheel it felt great! and the power difference amazing! went with 2 1/4 " piping to a magnaflow (i got for free) for exhaust and it sounds good! pretty damn loud though, im sure my nieghbors hate me by now went ahead and did the whole check this, torque that deal. everything worked great as planned!

went with slim ballasts

slimballast.jpg

had to have a stereo immediately, music is a major factor in my life, wanted something simple to eliminate a mess of wires, and too keep the dash factory. had heard about doing it this way a lil after my car was down, so made it happen. 400 watt 4 channel amp mounted under the pass seat with an aux cable out . done.. TIME... simple, clean, and since ipods have a built in EQ and mine has fm radio.. effective!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

THIS CAR IS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST TO DRIFT. .. its hard, it doesnt listen, i spin out like no other, i NEED a front swaybar.. but the main problem being me... i have yet to develop technique. one thing for sure is i have a blast trying to figure it all out! =) and will continue to do so! and ive been told it backfires to all hell since i DRIVE IT LIKE I STOLE IT. go hard or go home thats my motto.

one issue that occured whilst going hard, i realized that the rabbit radiator couldnt keep up. im pretty sure the issue is that there isnt enough coolant circulating in the system to stay cool. esp. since i got rid of my heater core.

sidenote: started buying more shit to satisfy the aesthetics section of my brain.. too many ideas for all the smallest details =)

addressed the over heating problem, checked out my options, and decided to go with a first gen rx7 radiator, but after market aluminum cause.. well why not right??

found this one on ebay, contacted the seller and found out they were out of city of industry. went straight to them and got it for $140 =)

2012-04-27_23-01-48_476.jpg

2012-07-14_20-11-25_196.jpg

met a dude that loves rims and told me he might of had a set for sale, saw a pic, fell in love!

=) (yes i have all four) RONAL 15X7 +10. love the raw aluminum , gives it that battle mode look!

2012-07-20_21-20-42_977.jpg

hit em with scotchbrite and got used tires. only rocking two in the front right now since i wanted to be on 15"s all the way around. ( didnt wana cough up the $$ for two more and love the lip on the mesh)

2012-07-21_13-00-32_446.jpg

looks good! hardly ever see 5 spokes on 510s (at least from what i recall)

2012-07-21_13-00-46_798.jpg

my goal is to tuck 15 x 7s nicely and still use the car for EVERYTHING. problem is the door jamb on the 4 doors is what rubs the tire.. exhibit A#

2012-07-28_15-38-43_848.jpg

exhibit B#

2012-07-28_15-47-57_499.jpg

finally addressed the issue =)

2012-07-28_16-29-45_218.jpg

that area was the main section for the contact, but of course more needed to be cut. cut slits in some areas and hammered flat, cut a chunk of where the quarter panel and the door jamb meet so it all could sit up higher.

2012-07-28_17-24-45_964.jpg

the one thing that sucked is this wheel arch had been hit before... which was discovered while prepping the area. the smooth pointey outside edge was all bondo.. O_O.. enough to make a cobra body i might add.. =(. so to make it ok on the eyes had to remove it all from the arch =/.. i hate primer spots..

2012-07-28_17-23-36_336.jpg

cut higher, cut longer.. bend the metal up and tack in place, add a new piece where old was cut out. moving the edge into the door jamb giving the tire clearance..

2012-07-28_17-32-22_886.jpg

hammer new metal to bow into door jamb . weld up and made it look pretty! haha

2012-07-28_19-07-11_711.jpg

i dont have the skills to come up with all that.. that was all my dad (GO*EZ) but bess believe ill be more involved on the other side =)
