VoidDragon
My suggestion is take some measurements when start looking for a truck with similar ones that they make covers for, Quote Link to comment
Guest DatsuNoob
Dammit. I thought you were gonna show us how to make one  :D. I forgot to ask Stacey with the tricked out purple 620 (at Datsunfish's BBQ) where his came from. Quote Link to comment
skunk
i wonder if i could just buy and fiberglass cover and cut it to size, cut in half both ways and take the extra out the middle, then fiber glass back together? i think it would be hard but if i took my time i think i can do it. oneslick720
i just took the flush mount from my s10 and cut it down to fit my 720 what surprised me is it was nothing more than 1" thick Styrofoam with fiberglass on both sides of it and trim pieces so it sits flush on the bed rails so i will for sure make my own for my 521 now that i see how easy it is Quote Link to comment
skunk
did ya take any pics? Quote Link to comment
oneslick720
No I sure didn't I didn't even think about it sorry..... But if you do find one off something else be sure that it is square cause after I cut it the first time is when I found out an s10 bed Is 1 1/2 out of square from front to back Quote Link to comment
skunk
well now that i really think about it i think i make just try and make one with fiberglass myself Quote Link to comment
oneslick720
i couldnt tell you where to buy a 1" think piece of Styrofoam at but i was really surprised at how simply they were made and then charge 500+ dollars for the flush mounted ones and it is super light weight Quote Link to comment
skunk
i think im going to make a mold out of wood, and fill it with that spray foam, break the mold and ill have a big peace of foam to work with. Quote Link to comment
butcherboyjc
I got mine off a tundra, cut it and fiberglassed it back together Im still not done I have to fill in the top with more fiberglass. It is strong and still fully functions. Quote Link to comment

1lo620
Most of the Mini trucks beds are the same size just different lips and rails. The one my blue truck is a Leer for an S10. And I also own a Leer for a Toyota, Both fit great, So look for a tonnue cover for a mini truck take measurements and go from there. Or PM Rick Rat from this site and have him ask Stacie where he got his or what it is,,,Rick works with him... Quote Link to comment
willz
if you guys want to make a fiberglass tonneau cover: materials: 2x4, unsure of the length or amount... whatever the distance around the bed is plywood sheeting fiberglass and resin spray gelcoat automotive wax some bondo step 1: take that plywood sheeting and cut it into the the shape of the cover, giving enough room all the way around so that it coves the entire bed step 2: lay the 2x4 around the outline and nail/glue/fix the 2x4 to the plywood (its important to do this with a nice flat sheet of plywood, the thicker the better to eliminate the wood warping) step 3: fill in and smooth the inside where the plywood meets with the 2x4 with bondo, or other such material ( im a big fan of the fiberglass bondo.. its green) cut a piece of carboard to the curve you want the corners to have and drag this around the inside to make it all uniform allow all of this to dry, do any sanding or perfecting you want. This will be your mold for the tonneau step 4: spray gelcoat on the inside as evenly as possible, let that dry step 5: coat the gelcoat with a uniform amount of automotive wax, make sure everything is covered with the wax that will have fiberglass on it step 6: lay your glass down and let it dry cut and sand the edges to your ocd perfection, apply paint, hardware enjoy the nice thing about this method... you can make an infinite amount of tonneau covers 1 Quote Link to comment

They made a vinyl one as a dealer option I think. Like 3 pieces sewn together with some stretchy loops to go over the bed hooks. Quote Link to comment

BROWNE
after looking around for covers for my 75, I thought of using waxed canvas and bungee cord material for an "old school" look Quote Link to comment
BROWNE
I was planning on cutting out sections of canvas that line up with the bed hooks. Then stitching the bungee cord material in the seam of the wax canvas. Hopefully that makes sense. Quote Link to comment
d510addict
I wouldn't use wood. Maybe closed cell foam that is glassed over with 2x4 made of the recycled plastic. Wood is heavey it will warp no matter what you do and it won't be as durable. Quote Link to comment
