ive done alot of wiring in the past and ive been using my multi meter like a mad man but im just lost right now and i know about taking off the negative cable but that doesnt fix my issue its only a band aid i truly appreciate all of your guys suggestions only on ratsun can u get such quick responses thank you for not acting like elitists haha

so i live down in ashland and im staying up in portland for a month working over in vancouver at vancouver bolts for a month and my 1970 521 has developed a power leak when i shut it off and drains out my batt to the point where it is pancaked and wont even take a pop start. a little bit of what i have done recently to her is new batt new alt new voltage reg when she is running she charges up fine reads just over 14.5 but i am completely baffled right now i read about the horn on another post on some guys 510 could that be the same for my truck? i just skated over to baxters over by portland medows and got some universal relays because that was all they had i wana find out what u guys think before i open them up and give it a shot. i am in need of some serious help please. if anyone can call me and give me some ideas i would appreciate it my name is dane and my number is 541 414 9040 i have very limited tools with me at this point but enough to get the job done. i pulled out the horn relay and the light relay according to the wiring diagram and checked ohms resistance on them i am showing a connection on the light relay but nothing from the horn would that indicate the horn relay being good or bad?

the points are opening and closing i set the the gap early today and have checked it several times the condenser is new just installed that about an hour ago. i will double check the wiring at the points and see where that leaves me. thanks for the input if that doesnt work is there anything else u can think of that i should try?

im working on my girlfriends goon with an l16 pulled the car into the garage under its own power did alot of work to it talked about the work i did on the cars thread but after putting in new points cap rotor condensor plugs wires and so on. so there is power going from the coil into the cap but im not getting any spark from there what is going on? im getting down to the wire as soon as the thing starts its on the road help please

i just painted a block with the same paint only black but good old ether aka starting fluid works great to clean the block and when u do your final primer coat while its still wet put on a light coat of the actual color so the 2 will bond together and u shouldnt have any issues.... if u really want your block CLEAN go get it hot tanked at a machine shop its not to much at all. just future reference type things

ok so im sorry im so slow about getting around to uploading pics but here are some to keep you dogs at bay haha. some of the finished dash name above vin breaks and new master cylinder and lines im going to be running today. oh and some pics of a few new toys i got for my 521 shopsmith v, hobart beta mig ii, and oxy accetoline owner tanks that were just filled and torches galore everything is in perfect working order i think i came out ontop when i only payed 500 for the truck haha oh the truck went to a freind so i know its in good hands... well i hope

damn man that is one fucked up situation. i had to call the police on my own mother the other day so i have an understanding of what it is like to be in a fucked up household. im not a fan of police but there is a time and a place for when they are needed and it sounds like u have taken all the right steps. just stay level headed about the situation dont do something that is going to get u in a trouble... kill them with kindness it truly works. when someone is upset just be as nice to them as u can be and they tend to act out more. and just like working on a car or truck documentation is key

new calipers just came in the mail today on my way out the door to napa to grab a couple break lines and on the ground she goes fuck yeah... dash is finished and all back together stereo mounted up all wires hidden old nothingness wires pulled out so on and so forth ready to take this bitch on her maiden voyage!

so a buddy of mine had an old roof rack from a suburbalanche that he had that is super clean just need to cut it a little bit to make it fit and make some wood slats for it and it was the best price... free (:

yeah datsuns are rad ive had the bug in my bonnet about them for 3 years now and my girlfriend has been into them for about a year now its kind of our thing haha her first was a 79 kc that i just got from her last night i bought abunch of parts for her goon so she gave me her truck now i own 3 ha. she bought an 04 outback with a rebuilt motor and so on and so far and she hates the thing she is waiting for the title to come in the mail and then she is gonna turn around and sell it and just mob her goon once it is fully road worthy. so do any of you know where to find a wooden slat roof rack for one of these things? it is a serious want any input is great or do u think i would be better off building one myself?

so last night i took the dash out and filled the cracks in it sanded the excess filler off and just got done laying the fiberglass matting on it i will post some pics later tonight once im off work but it is looking damn good if i do say so myself

thanks guys yeah they are both keepers (: i will post some pictures of the exhaust soon this is her second datto. her first one is a 79 kc that i helped her put some serious work into. but the plans for the goon are to keep her as stock as possible slam it and a weber maybe side drafts if we can find them and the intake for the right price haha. we are just gonna buff out the paint it still has alot of shine in her all the trim is off and getting polished as well oh and did i mention we got the car for $1000 score! oh and the car is not going anyplace and if it does its going to go into my name haha but that is a looooooooong shot haha she is stoked on it

so my girlfriend found the car on cl went out looked at it then picked it up the next morning brought it home on a trailer. the breaks froze up when trying to get it off the trailer no big deal whole new break system is on the way already most of it will be in by morning. got new points cap rotor plugs wires coil fresh fluids yada yada... this thing is a total cream puff. oh and it had no exhaust on it but i welded one up already. this thing is a cream puff gutted the inside out no holes anyplace very and i mean very minimal surface rust took care of that then bedlined the floors from head to toe. so here is daisy the 72 goon (: and just so u know my girlfriend has put in just as much if not more work on this thing as i have already oh and i put in new weather stripping on all the doors and rear hatch

as for the 72 goon... swoop early bird get the worm bitches haha my girlfriend bought it this morning we just got it to my house like 30 seconds ago will start a thread on it soon with pics

thanks for the input. i wana be able run it for a bit before it goes in because i would rather have something go wrong with it outside of the truck and its nice to be able to break in the motor some before she gets driven

well like the topic says im thinking about making a test stand. i just picked up a freshly machined and hot tanked l20b block and im ordering a rebuild kit and new crank this thursday. have any of you built a test stand for these before? any input? i have enough metal around here to weld one up and would anyone else be able to get some use out of this? if i do end up building it i will do a write up in the how to section

looking for an l20b crankshaft i would prefer local but could pick up anywhere from portland down to southern oregon pm me with price trying to find one in the next day or so because my father is headed up to portland tomorrow morning and he will be headed back my way on friday... it would be nice to not have to pay for shipping. or maybe if there where some parts that u needed transported we could work out a deal
