So im confused ..is the trans that broke 26 1/4 ? or just one in truck now.? And earlier in this thread you mentioned wanting a electronic dizzy..This truck that is parked behind fence on the entrance to Black Hills high school has one NOT a match box ,, if you go during week days and talk with farmer in big building he might sell it ( ignition )and box to you.But if you want to take whole truck free he really wants it gone,, NO TITLE

I see now ...that hose looks like it`s 4ft long. maybe make your own with a few pre formed hoses with thin wall ( muffler type) pipe between the pieces.You may be surprised how well you can tuck hoses with enough bends and how custom it looks.

Are you changing out alternator because it doesn`t work. Or is it catty- wompus in there because if it is already wired in and sets correctly maybe just take bracket out and grind & add metal to look better. GM internally regulated alternators are cheap real cheep

New? Maybe Cut Rate Auto Parts in Tumwater, I dont use the one in Lacey but maybe there to,, if you go this way it probably would be best to go in and try to AVOID the young guys ..

The only thing i saw, that i thought was a hard fix was picture i posted,but if not as bad as it looks than ( for your location ) it`s not that bad a deal. The butterscotch 2 door in my yard has way worse Flintstone floorboards than that car. That 411 does look pretty clean And i tried phrasing first sentence better but could not do so....

Alternator in my 83 280zx went bad and i just put new one in and there was almost two volt drop between b+ on alt and battery.Super loose corroded terminal hidden in the, loom and tape, between the two.It is probably what killed alternator the first time ( or maybe ) it`s just that time of year.

Noobs I will bet that most 510s are safer than some of the old Ford trucks you have rode around in lately .. Steering.............kinda Brakes.................sometimes personal restraint system................................

Flat cat i would have to disagree,, while there MIGHT be no noticeable difference at wide open throttle ( which on a 4A-ge is WAY up there) I think trying to sync up carbs with a bunch of screen, foam and whatnot down the stacks at idle may be close to impossible.. And after all the car has to idle just to be driveable..Just my opinion anyway. -

Voltage drop equals resistance. Replace the cables to the batteries and and the connections. You have something besides copper between the battery and the alternator.

Definitely adjust valves it`s REAL easy , have adjusted valves on cars and it acted like someone had installed new engine! And the drive it like you stole it method that Laecaon mentioned does help,, Maybe NOT " 6000 rpms for a few minutes " but definitely blow the bugs out on the freeway and get it nice and hot..

Higher octane MIGHT help with NOx but since it burns slower it might raise HC ,, but it didn`t sound like it did that, but im not sure how CO is made . I thought a converter lowered NOx and HC,, when we had shop trucks not pass we advanced timing <till it almost pinged and sometimes that worked.. sometimes. Could you take a better picture of results,, actual numbers ..of both tests

Whats with the high octane? did you use it in first sniffer test? Did you replace catalytic converter?
