  1. Sweet pics of my cressida, thanks. Definitely a lot of fun. It actually does look like I was riding on the bump stops through most of the corners.
  2. I fixed this by removing the wheel speed sensors, disabling the ABS system...
  3. You bastard just gave me a reason to buy a PS3... I even have a logi G25... And stuck with forza 3... On xbox...
  4. Oh, so thats why you cut your springs... :D

no, it handles much better, and the ride quality is better. ;)

  5. Hey, I just did the shocks on the front of my toyota cressida. While doing this I removed the calipers, brake hose, rotors, ect of course, I also removed a "speed sensor" from the front, and left sides that goes behind the dust cover, it looks to be some electromagnetic sensor. I believe its hooked to the power steering system. When I removed them they where covered in bits of metal(the magnet is very strong) so I cleaned them off, put them back, did the rest of the shock replacement. Now at exactly 15mph, the brakes will shudder for a minute and the brake pedal will give abnormal resistance, when I hit 14-13mph it will stop, and brakes will feel normal. The mechanical hydrolic assembly works flawlessly, I bled the brakes correctly and filled the fluid also. What could cause this? The brakes are working great, and the ABS seems to be working at higher speeds.(wheels no longer lock up, they lock on/off as they should)
  6. Oh, so thats why you don't cut your springs...

They can seriously screw up your spring perch if you hit any very large bumps, since its only resting on a small contact point instead of a whole coil. :( Found this out AFTER I cut the first one, have not driven it yet.

  7. Sweet, I do love these more and more since I have owned one even though Its mostly stock. Not sure what 180sx you where in, but they look nice. You gotta get a ratsun sticker on it if you don't already. :P

  10. I'm no pro at this, but I'd recommend getting ground control, it makes it really easy to swap the springs. 2.5" Springs are pretty cheap, I've seen many sites that sell them in a huge selection of rates. maybe for the weight of that engine 300-350lb in front?
  11. That 510 looks sick, autox is very fun. You definitely need bigger sway-bars and more spring rate. :P Are you planning on putting on flares? I was planning to come out again in my Toyota btw, installing new shocks tomorrow.
  12. Forgot to mention that my driveway is about a 40 degree angle steep, and my car is in front of the driveway. I cant get it into the garage to drop the engine in so I gotta do it in front of my house. Its a pretty flat area right where I am going to drop it in, and I've got some room in front of it to work with. Where do I buy things like engine mount bolts? Flywheel bolts from a roadster should work? The engine also already has a chain on it for lifting. :) This is how it sits now: Monster truckin'... Cool. I did this when I went to pick it up, though its sitting on a pallet so didn't need the 2x4. I have the cash so I'm just going to get a hoist. Also I may eventually swap the engine in my toyota for a GTE or something, so its a good thing to have. I will get one, though I can use it with a hoist, yeah? Since I don't have a garage to drop the engine in. Yeah, but if its possible to put the trans it later it would be easier for me since I don't really have anywhere except inside the car to install it on the engine. Yeah, my brothers car also has a lightened flywheel(350z) it was a pain to get use to driving, but now that I am its very fun. My datsun is mainly going to be an race/autocross/weekend car, I don't care much if its a beast to drive. Its better than an automatic! Can I torque the bolts while its on the hoist? Maybe lower it on something to hold it still? My plan was to have my brother help me pick it up, put it in our van and drive it up the driveway(its a very steep driveway), then put it on the street hoist it up and install it...
  13. First, I SEARCHED, I searched google, and didn't find what I wanted. I want to drop the engine in this month, if all goes well. And this time if I have budgeted correctly I will have everything to put the engine in.(hoist, trans x member, ect) Are there any preferred/better brands of engine hoists? budget is around $300. Its just an L20b that I'm putting in.. Can I install the flywheel when the motor is already in the car? I know I can install the transmission after- though it will be difficult. Is there anything I should know generally while putting the engine in? Where would I buy new engine mount bolts? I have new mounts already.(L16 mounts work on L20b I assume!) I know I'm missing most of the engine bay stuff and things to get it running but all I need right now is the engine and trans in the car so I can figure everything else out from there. I'm hoping to finally finish the wheel wells, suspension, and brakes once the final parts arrive.(Was going to do this today but got... distracted...) From there I'll be ready to drop the engine into the car. And also, I do have an excuse for taking so long.. the previous owner has still not sent me the gas cap keys... Yes, I'm nagging him. also spending my cash on expensive parts like an 11lb flywheel... I've probably missed some stuff here, any comments or help is appreciated as always. Everything goes well you guys will have another goon at JCCS...
  14. That thing looks sweet- is it possible to make the motor actually loud? Thats one thing that I dislike about electric, you just don't get the same feeling with no loud noise from the motor. :( However my electric RC car screams. The body design looks very light weight, looks to be a pretty sweet car. :D What type of suspension does that thing run? Funny that you took the photo at a gas station. :P
  15. Saw a yellow datsun pick-up with a blue roof on the el camino in san bruno today. Was driving. :(

  17. I'm sorry, I'm a dumbass, and usually half-awake while reading these forums in the morning. I'll fix it. Sorry to frustrate you, lol! And BTW by residue I mean I read the wrong set of instructions and didn't dilute it, so it turned the surface of the fender in to a rainbow.... :S I seem to word things very badly...
  18. I got the por15 body filler finally. The fender is almost rust free using the jelly stuff. I found out that prep&etch stuff leaves a residue after I put it on the whole outside of the fender... sigh. Finally kicking myself enough to wake up and do some work on the car!! Thanks for the tips.
  19. Possibly from 80's model nissan maxima?
  20. No idea, I have a goon(uses leafspring/solid axle). Stock springs should be OK? then save up for rear coilovers. :D
  21. Hmm those pictures look sweet. Hopefully I can go to the show next year...
  22. No- the rear uses a different assembly for the mounting. The coilovers would need to mount where the shocks are, then you would remove the spring. So as you can see, the front strut mounting and rear shock mounting are very different. I got my headers off ebay from topend performance for $200... Have not run them yet. :P http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories
  23. Yesterday on bart, I spotted a 4-door 120y brown completely stock on the freeway... Passing the train ofc. The license plate had two numbers than "sss" on it... hmm.
  24. You get a cookie, its an Evora. :D
