  1. Hmmmm.... well I'm stumped. Guess I'm gonna go order a re-jet kit and some other parts and rebuild/rejet this old thing.
  2. Whelp, did some basic maintenance to it just trying to figure out why this thing won't idle. It's probably all irrelevent, but I adjusted the valves, replaced fuel filter, etc. I've played some more with the carb, and it still won't idle for shit. I'm thinking about pulling the weber and rebuilding it. Is it possible that a failing fuel pump can cause this?

  5. Mike, that's actually a pretty neat idea! I thought about getting some cheapo sleeves and springs from ebay though. Either that or drop $200 into the GC kit. Not for me It's stiffer then it was before and rides SO much better. Got any extra money you want gone? I'd be happy to help. Strapped for cash on this end.

  8. Old or not, you can't possibly tell me that isn't just a sweet idea! I've thought of it many times. Common mike, the L series isn't THAT old of technology. I apply everything I've learned playing with these little motors into my everyday work and find it very helpful. Plus, the KA is a direct link back to the L motor!

  11. A: Yes, dizzy vacuum port is capped with a nice new tight vacuum cap. B: Where all is there for a leak? I have quadruple checked everything. The only vacuum ports I have is from the manifold to brake booster. I've replaced the hose and used hose clamps to keep it tight. My adapter is tight 100% with no cracks. C: Dizzy shaft is super tight. I've had it apart once in the last few months to inspect and I was very satisfied with it. Advance plate was 100% complete and operating.
  12. I don't run vac advance because of several reasons. A: My advance diaphragm leaks at both ports. B: I'm running zero emissions, and with a centripetal advance, there's no reason to further advance any timing. If I was to run straight from manifold to dizzy for vac advance, then at idle I'd no longer be at 5/6 degrees of timing because the vac advance would advance the timing at idle, therefore forcing me to further retard the timing. It would be a never ending loop wouldn't it?
  13. I have no vac advance. Only centripetal in the dizzy since I'm running weber with ZERO emissions. My underhood tag says 5 degrees. Is yours A14 or A15? Odd that theres a variance. I have decided that I need to re-jet the carb, however I'm unsure of the jet sizes I need. I'm sure the idle jet is probably oversized.

      It sat WAY higher then that. lol It handles 10X better then before, but I haven't really beat on it yet.

  16. Suspension is still settling, but here's the current ride height after cutting 1 1/2 coils.

  18. I ended up starting at 1 1/2 coils, and I'm rather dissapointed with it. It only managed about 1'' drop, after driving it. Maybe it's not settled all the way yet? Anyways, so far with the new ball joints, and shorter springs I LOVE the way it drives. So far I've noticed nothing out of the ordinary. It's obviously lower, but not as much as I'd like...
