  1. Chevron 92 octane and Castrol Syntec all the way for my daily, although I think one time I had to use Shell... To be honest I can't really tell much of a difference between octanes or oils. When I had my Explorer I used premium gas in it a couple times, and I think I recall a slight difference, but the "Seat Of The Pants" meter isn't all that reliable...
  2. What came with it when you got it? Just the body? Or was it mostly complete, save for details and all?
  3. 2V? You don't need a header, the stock mani works great as is. What are you intending to do with the intake? Carb swap? Dual carb, single, sidedrafts? Nice truck... I love the black down the body line, looks real nice. And this is in the wrong forum... it should be in the projects.
  4. You're selling it? So soon? Great find, that truck is very nice...
  5. I am so in on one of these kit cars... where did you get it, how much, etc?
  6. Wow... you guys have it cheap. I just recently started using Castrol Syntec, and the cheapest I've found it is 6 litres for just over $40. I'm surprised at how clean my engine is though... closing in on 2000 km after the oil change and it still looks the same as it did coming out of the bottle.

    Seats

Has anyone ever taken a high-back seat and trimmed the back to make it into a low-back? I've got a pair of seats I'd love to use in my truck, but I want to lower the back and redo the upholstery...
  8. Wow... that was awesome... That is one hell of a head. And I want ITBs...
  9. You're kidding about the Mercedes right? Wow am I jealous... :D It's gorgeous... I had a '69 230 a while back, but this is in a class all it's own. Where'd you get it? The interior looks good... I like the colours, but I would've done the front seats in the same style as the rear, rather than the thin strip in the center... and I would redo the steel steps in hardwood. But... that's just me.
  10. Wow... I expected something... smaller... Happy birthday Nismo... I like the name. :D
  11. My truck has a 4.88... ^_^ I would go with the 3.70... my Explorer had a 3.73 with a four-speed auto with O/D and it wasn't too bad... sat at around 1,750 rpm at 100 km/h. No idea what the transmission ratios were... If you really want to get technical on which ratio to use, then do a search on google for a top speed calculator, but use it to find the final drive instead. All you do is put in the speed you want to run at on the highway, the rpm's you want to be at, your transmission ratios, and your wheel size, and it'll find the best final drive ratio to fit. You won't get a hell of a lot of top speed out of it, but it'll be good enough to run on the highway with enough power to kick around town.
  12. Are we talking smoothies? I haven't been able to find anything over 15" for my truck, and I wanted 16x8's. American Racing has them up to 15x8 with the caps. They're usually chromed, but when I talked to a shop they told me they could order them in without the chrome and I could get them powdercoated myself. But... now that I've got the stockers I might just use those. They just need a good clean and a powdercoat... and maybe some whitewalls...
  13. If there was a way to find a cheap CVT and bolt it to a KA I would be all over it... I was trying to find a semi-auto Nissan transmission, but nobody had any idea where to find one. Did they ever make one? I think the Altima or something had a paddle shift version a year or two back...
  14. The front lamps? I'm pretty sure they're just generic clearance lamps. I pulled them off and the wires were spliced into the original harness... the lights were just mounted on a piece of aluminium cut to fit the original hole. I'm replacing them though. I've got a couple old Beetle marker lamps I was considering using on top of the fenders... let me find a pic and I'll post it up... Crappy cellphone picture, I know... if I go with those markers, then I'll remove the front and side markers and smooth over the body... Thoughts?
  15. Mine are in the same position, but mine are flush mount... Not the best picture, but you get the idea...
  16. I'm pretty sure the golf clubs are door latch releases... they might be from a 411 or something. Maybe I should ask in the Body/Interior forum... As for the tach, no-one's got any idea what it's from? I did a quick search and apparently the 521's didn't have a tach option. Maybe a 510?
  17. Wow... nice truck... Did you invite him to the forum?
  18. I guess no one has an accurate description of a build and the kind of numbers it puts out... I guess you'll just have to try it and let us know. :D
  19. No Datsun? I'm planning on going, but I don't think I'll take the truck... probably just drive down with a friend and look around.
  20. Wow... very nice. I think Phleb's referring to the CVT... is that what you've got?
  21. My vote is... A lot of money. A KA puts out about 150 or 160 stock... it would take a bit of cash to turn that into 200+ horsepower. I think you'd be hard pressed to make a 200 hp L20B. I think you'd be hard pressed to make a 150 hp L-Series. I know you said non-turbo, but maybe if you went turbo + fuel injected, maybe did some bottom end work (stroker, bored over?), did a really nice job on the head, did all the ignition, fuel system, exhaust... you'd probably put out some pretty good numbers. It'd certainly be a beast. Hell, the J-13 in my 521 only puts out 67 hp, and it's got some kick.
  22. Alright, I just saw this on CL, but apparently there's a little get-together or something at Spanish Banks on Sunday, April 27th. This has probably already been posted on the510realm, but just wanted to make sure everyone saw. Here's the link... to the CL ad...
  23. I think I have the panels you're looking for in the garage... Do you need the entire thing, or just the location of the speaker cutout? I only have the panels though... I don't think I've got any pods or speaker mounts or anything else...
  24. Shane... that looks pretty good... I like the rat in place of the period, nice touch.
  25. There it is... although, someone else on this site told me a while back that I've got a different set of fenders too... the front side marker lamps on mine are up near the top of the fender, where the body line is... Maybe it's just a Canadian vs a US version?
