  1. I vote for keeping the history, and box flares. I love the look, wish the box flares were still available for the 620s, the few that I saw looked badass! :P
  2. Good deal Bob, There should be a law against junking savable 510 2 doors. I have always wanted one, but have never been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
  3. Where are the photos of your vehicles?

  4. This looks very heavy, don't they sell aluminum in the land down under?:P
  5. I feel sorry for anyone that trips on those stairs, the mill isn't going to be a very soft landing spot! :(
  6. And I asked right after that, so I'm second in line!!!!:hyper::hyper::hyper::frantics::frantics::rofl::rofl:
  7. Yea, and the post time shows 1:22?;)
  8. Thanks Skip, I use firefox, but don't know how to get the spell check feature?
  9. I have spell check when I'm emailing, but their is none in the forum? There must be a way to have it here too? :(
  10. I'm not just talking just about the time zone, the minutes are off also. posted at 12:28pm
  11. Why is the posting time off? Also, why no spell check for us dummies?
  12. Bob, I'm sooo jealous, you have all the neat toys that I thought I would have by this time in my life. If only I hadn't had so many bad breaks in life, but I keep trying, so maybe sometime in the future I might have a shop like yours, but at 61, I don't have a lot of years left to enjoy it. Are there any more autocrosses left this year? If I can scrape up the money for tires for the new wheels I bought for my Lexus, I want to play with it before the snow flies. If you need some one to operate that new mill for you I'll volunteer if I can use it for making some of my own parts! LOL!!! :P:hyper:
  13. If it was the the speed sensor, would the speedo still work? I just found out that the speed limiter shuts it off at 120, no traffic on the way home from work tonight. :P
  14. I'm hoping that someone on here knows Toyota products as I just bought a project car that a neighbor lost interest in. It is a 93 Lexus SC300 with a Supra Twin Turbo conversion. It runs great, very fast, except it is an automatic, and will not up shift at anymore than half throttle. If you get on it, it will stay in first gear, and just bounce off the rev limiter. even at low throttle settings it stays in low longer than it should, then when it does shift, because the throttle is barely open, it up shifts to 3rd and 4th almost imeadiatly, causing me to have to down shift it to get any kind of acceleration. right now it has the SC300 trans in it, but I have the Supra automatic that I can install if I need to, but it seems that this is some kind of computer problem or something is not hooked up right, but with no Toyota experience, and no luck finding the right shop manuals, I need some help from someone with a lot of knowllege about these cars. If you know anything or someone that does, please help, as I am missing the full enjoyment of driving this car, once I get the bugs out, it will be lots of fun, and I plan on taking it down to PPIR to play with Bob3. I will post pics if anyone wants to see it. I got it cheap, because it needs tlc, lots of cosmetic work, a small dent in the drivers door, clear coat peeling off the bumpers and a couple of other places, and the interior has a lot of cracked vinyl from being out in the sun too much. little by little I will get it in the condition a luxury car should be. It would be a great sleeper, except it has dual 4 inch exhaust pipes with no mufflers, only the turbos, and cat to quiet it down. there is no room to put 4 inch mufflers under the car, and it would cost a lot to redo it to 3 inch, plus it sounds so good (very deep rumble like a big block Chevy) that even though I would like to be stealthy, I really like the music it makes, plus the turbos spool real fast with no restriction. Any help will be appreciated.
  15. You may think it's not that important, but even though it's just a pos daily driver, it is still one of the best economy cars ever built, and an important part of Nissan's history. Plus there are other people with no experience that go to these build threads to learn how to repair their own cars. It is good to share your experiences with others, you both get to learn from them. I just gave a pointer to a guy in Australia on how to do his seat covers a better way to make them come out better, if he wasn't posting every step of his build I wouldn't have seen that he was having a problem keeping his fabric smooth while he was sewing it. You have a car that if you take care of it, will last for a long time, and give you lots of great memories like I have from my 1200 that I had back in the early 70s, pos or not. When the day comes that you want to sell it, keep me in mind, I may be done with some of my project cars by then, and be ready to start another. Keep up the good work on your coupe, and remember, your pos may be someone else's diamond in the rough! :D
  16. Looking great, just wish we could see how you got there, big jump from ugly green and beat up to mostly primed, and some white, would like to see how you got there. Keep up the great work though, I still think you would be happier with a Weber DGV carb, much easier to tune, and more reliable. You might want to think about changing to a flat or satin white on the grill to give it a little contrast to the white on the rest of the car, but will still tie it in, just an idea? If it was mine, I would have painted the whole grill satin black, with just the emblem contrasting colors, but that's my taste, a little more subtle. ;)
  17. Here is a little history lesson from an older guy in the US. What you are doing is called pleating, and is called rolled and pleated in your style. The diamond style is called diamond pleated. There is 2 ways to do pleating, the cheaper and easier way that you are doing, and the more custom way that most nice show cars and street rods are done, the stitching is hidden on the back side so all you see is the pleat. Instead of stitching through from front to back, you fold the material and glued on foam and stitch it totally on the back side. This method is more time consuming, but gives a nicer, more finished look. I was going to tell you about gluing the foam on too, but the other guy beat me to it. Rolled and pleated was popular in the 50s and 60s with the hot rodders, and custom car guys, and is making a comeback now that nostalgia is in. My cousin has a 40 Ford coupe he built way back when that is red with a black rolled and pleated interior, chrome wheels with Merc hubcaps, that is back in style now. Just goes to show you keep something when it goes out of style, and sooner or later, it will be back in style again. Best part is, he has had it so long, that he only has about $3,000 invested, the only money he has had to put in it since it was finished in the 60s, is oil changes and new tires. Today the car is worth around $35-40 thousand if he wanted to sell it, but I don't think he ever will. Are you close to ready to start selling the urethane cab mounts yet? Be sure and let me know when you are, preferably black in color. Keep up the great work, you are an insperation to others, that you can do anything, if you just do a little research and practice. :D:cool:
  18. Tom, have you talked to these people lately? It has been well past twice the time they said it would take to make them, and no word as to why there is a delay, or when we will get them. I think we deserve to at least know what is going on after sending our money months ago, in advance. Just my $.02, Jim. :poke:
  19. Tom, It has been over 90 days. How about letting us know what is going on?
  20. Bummer, better locktight it next time. I lived about 5 blocks east of Manzano High School. I just bought a new toy, a Lexus SC 300 with Supra twin turbo engine, suspension with coilovers, and brakes. I've wanted one for years, but couldn't afford one til now, but only because I got a deal on it. What a kick to drive, when that second turbo kicks in, it mashes you back in the seat. :D
  21. Thanks for the props, I'm slow, but at least it looks half way decent when I'm done. The bars are both Addco, from a guy on Ebay. if you buy both at once, he will cut you a better deal, I think I saved around $50 or 60.
  22. Thanks for all the suggestions, for now it has stopped acting up, so it will do no good to try them, I think since it is connected to the factory wiring harness and plug, the most likely cause is that the coil may be getting tired. I'm planing to upgrade to a multispark ignition in the near future. If the coil holds out til then, the coil will get replaced along with the new system. I wish Pertronics made the Igniter III the Datsuns, then I would get a points style distributor, and convert it, and have everything under the distributor cap. They are the coolest tech, I have one in my 57 Chevy, looks like a stock distributor, but has the latest tech hidden underneath. The only one they make for Datsuns is the Igniter I, which is just an electronic conversion.
  23. I guess i should have stated, it's in a 79 620 and is plugged in to the factory wiring harness, all fresh connections. :P
  24. I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem, and has a solution? I got my dash together and installed recently, and everything worked great for the first few days. Now at random times my factory tach starts reading eratticly. It seems to be worse when the engine is under load, but the engine is running fine, I'm hoping someone has a fix for this, Thanks in advance.
