looking for a rebuildable l20b in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Utah, or Nevada…

    $100

  3. Ok yeah I remembered there was an upgrade people did with oil pumps but forgot what oil pump… good to know… any benefit from port matching a stock l16 with a Weber?
  4. well for some reason this is kind of a taboo subject here on ratsun probably because fwd, but honda civics. Parts cross between all the models pretty easily, everything is heavily documented, fwd but still a blast to drive and they handle very good... HP is relatively cheap.. you can get some JDM engines for relatively cheap still though the sought after engines and trannies are pretty spendy but doable... they are like legos to put together far easier than other car models in my experience, still lots of parts in junkyards if needed... they kinda seem to me like how datsuns were in 2009-2010 when ratsun was booming cheap projects are plentiful still etc but starting to dwindle... but most importantly to me at least they seem to have character and soul like datsuns do... Miata is also a solid choice but they have a bit more "drift/tuner tax" ... the civics are going up in price fast. but talk about blasphemy I might get the ban hammer for this post, I'm pretty sure the ratsun commandments say "thou shall not vtec"
  5. forgive me if there is info on this somewhere in the thread I just clicked through... but i'm saving up to import something one day in the next few years hopefully... im leaning towards a sunny pickup... I see them on the carfromjapan . com site some for between 10k-15k... Can you give me a quick summary of the process? do sites like that do most of the hard work for you? is there any hidden costs?

Where/how do you search/find a gx gasket? been looking on rock auto and eBay…. where do you find dual valve springs? thanks for this I think I’m going to try this formula!
  7. This is some great information thanks for taking the time. what about oil pump? Run the old one or buy a new one?
  8. if you take an L16 that smokes apart and re ring it, add new seals and new gaskets, and possibly bearings do you trust it? This is obviously taking into consideration that tolerances are still in spec, no crazy gouges in the cylinder walls etc.... New freeze plugs? do anything else while its apart? important notes?... i've searched and searched but the consensus seems somewhat mixed... Is this just an idea for the person that wants something cheap to get them by for a few 3-5 years maybe until they do an actual rebuild/motor swap... or is this a legitimate long term option possibly?
  9. need updates. just got a b210 and I am using you for motivation 😛
  10. New shocks all around now and it’s sitting nice and low 👍… next up brakes 😑 tried to get a drum off with not much luck. Going to try more pb blaster and more love taps with the sledge hammer 🔨… we already have all new brake parts to go on probably do a disc conversion later down the road just getting everything functional for now… any recommendations for drum removal no threaded bolt holes in these drums unfortunately.
  11. The crazy thing to me is that the sunny trucks in Japan have the same or a very similar heater core setup to the 620 so you would think heater cores would be pretty easy to find still since they made those pickups through the 90s.. I bought a new radiator for my 620 in about 2016 at oreilly auto parts but now it seems you can’t find them anymore sucks 😞 it’s getting harder and harder to find parts.
  12. Can’t believe cost of heater core work that’s crazy. Also can’t believe you can’t find them anywhere anymore … truck is pretty love it.
  13. Did end up needing to reindex the front. Didn’t realize you can reindex torsion bars either at the front where it meets the control Arm or back at the adjuster, was a pretty simple procedure.. also trimmed bump stops and installed new front shocks.
  14. Lowered. 3inch blocks and one leaf removed the longest one of the pack. Will see how it feels when it’s road worthy and add traction bars or a helper leaf kit if it needs it/feels too soft. torsion bars loosened I don’t think they will need reindexed, sitting a bit high in the front but I believe it’s sitting on the bump stops, will trim them as soon as I get to it. We just got all new brake parts and new shocks all around hope to get to that in the coming weeks. We also started wire wheeling frame and undercarriage rust and using por15 under the truck it’s been a huge project… still haven’t gotten front dent out or fender mirrors on.
  15. this thing will be nuts. like the vision.
  16. man this thing is legit efi on an old engine is so cool loving it... idea for temp gauge wonder if you can find some kind of adjustable led dimmable resistor like this ... https://www.amazon.com/12V-24V-Dimming-Controller-Adjustable-Brightness/dp/B07NHJYYL7/ref=asc_df_B07NHJYYL7/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=366343882692&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10655307956302108566&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029598&hvtargid=pla-807030513961&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=76503872296&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=366343882692&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10655307956302108566&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029598&hvtargid=pla-807030513961 and just wire it inline and adjust it till you get the reading you got before the temp sender swap? ha ha... the right thing to do would be get a different sender but just an idea if that's not an option.
  17. Wet sanded and buffed the whole thing.. think we are going to use boiled linseed oil on the patina spots to protect it and wax on all the still painted surfaces. Needs more low?
  18. We started working on taking apart the front end to remove the fenders and mount her fender mirrors. Plan on straightening out the core support area a little, and popping dent as much as possible out of fender…. and also plan to por15 paint behind fenders before reinstalling…
  19. Sound deadening and carpet done. Seats mounted and test fitting the steering wheel. Plan on doing door panels and kick panels fairly soon..
  20. awesome info. But how do b210s, 710. 610, 411s etc compare?...
  21. Working on sound deadening and carpeting over the next few days will post more pics.
