  1. Hell no, its better. How many older Mercedes do you see compared to old Maximas? Tons. They were directly competing with the E190 class Benz with this car too. (of which they made over 1.1 million vs 200k-ish maximas)
  2. wow, where did you find springs for that price? I love your paint by the way, its original right?
  3. So, I made the finisher panel cover today, the aforementioned glue, 3M 08090, Is some hard core crazy stuff, crazier than any other cement type glue I have ever used. I have no fear that this cover is not coming off. Use gloves. And heres the front (headliner sneak peak), The little blue rails onthe sides are the only thing I didnt do anything to before installing them. The will never be seen once the sun roof is installed, the panel slides on them.
  4. Maxima interior/sunroof restoration is coming nicely, I might even be done before the end of the damn month!

      Sweet man put in work!

  5. thanks man, It is almost done, watching it operate so smoothly even only half assembled almost makes it worth it. I cant wait to watch the roof panel disappear.
  6. I reassembled the whole sun roof except the cosmetic parts. I even surprise myself a little sometimes, I didnt understand how this damn thing worked until I got it back together. I got it aligned to the motor and the motor and entire system now works. What is cool is that theres a limit switch for half way, just like a modern sun roof. I hooked it up to the car battery with a fuse, and the open close button works. and the assembly functions probably better than it did in the last 30 years. here is the roof in half closed position And here is is retracted Next thing to do is to upholster the finisher panel, or inner panel, (the part that looks like the headliner) I bought some $22.00 A CAN!!!!!!!! 3M super yellow adhesive last night, so that should do it.
  7. Those headers are absolutely beautiful
  8. Sun roofs are fucking terrible things. I am so busy screwing with mine that I missed this thread!!!! Cut that bitch out and weld that bitch shut. What prevented me from going this route was that the headliner is held up with listing wires, Unless you have a sun roof, then it is glued and held with one listing wire in the back, and I didnt want to have to fabricate the hooks for the 7 listing wires on the hard top. Then finding the original map light that only came in Deluxe and Diesel models is another headache. Having said that, if I were to do this again, I would weld the bitch shut, theres just too many parts. Honda makes it way easier, you just order a new roof skin and headliner, drill out the roofline welds, hit her with a head gun and voila!. Weld the new one in place, slap some body sealer in it and your done. Also: Sun Roof = Solid metal top Moon Roof= Glass see through top.
  9. The Rails and sliders have been reassembled, Greased and the wires are mostly clean, I will clean the renaining once I install the wire guide. Greasing these assembly correctly is messy so be prepared. The rails are sealed with 3M weatherstrip cement, and screwed onto the tub in 5 holes along each. Those little plates on the end hold the wire guides when they are installed. Next the wire guide gets disassembled and cleaned., first I have to remove the wire harness, which is zip tied on, of course. The gear center where the motor gear comes up and push-pulls the wires is where everything is held together
  10. Foose-ly?, lol I think its almost more Coddingtonly.
  11. The springs are used to hold the collectors to the header. On old 2 strokes/snowmobiles, and some 4 stroke bikes, the header would be sprung to the cylinder head too, only one bolt in the back holding the whole exhaust on.
  12. That is tooooooooo much Tristan. lolololololololololol. Did he take you for a ride in "Le Sex Tank"?
  13. I spy a beautiful, badly photographed 910 SSS Hardtop 4 Door in pic #4
  14. It has not hing to do with being lame or not, I dont really like cars converted to it either, but thats just me. If it was original I wouldnt change it, but it still feels wierd, goin to the bank, going through a drive through of any sort, gettin pulled over, lolol. Its all pretty funny in RHD actually. We got puller over in an SIR, my buddy was driving, the cop comes to my side "can I see your...........wait" "wrong side buddy" lolol.
  15. Thats not just a wing, he hasnt activated the drag reduction system yet.
  16. one rail cleaned and reassembled one to go.
  17. I wouldnt convert one, that is just sacrilege. But I would go after a converted, or LHD originally model. I hate RHD cars over here, yeah, its cool as hell, but it feels so bizarre here in the US.
  18. lolololol, I as a Honda guy, have to admit truth in that, at least for most of these idiots. But, its not like 240sx owners are even remotely better, at least not around here. lol.
  19. I think it would take a lot to make that civic cool again. For one, a factory color. The worst thing you can do to a Honda, is paint it a non factory color.
  20. I have only driven the Aw11, but I have ridden in a few sw20. I love them both, I hate convertibles, but I kind of even like the MR-S a little too.
  21. I waaay prefer the look of the AW11 to the MK2, Both are amazing cars though.
  22. its the herrrrrafrush that is the issue here.......
  23. The government has shutdown because it cant decide how to spend the imaginary money it doesnt have.
