  1. Nice! Sorry for all the questions, I think a lot of us have been looking for these for a while. Those Tomei ones are just outrageous IMO.
  2. A blank would be fine with me. Will the Oil cap and vent be open or unfinished? Sadly I won't have the $$ till May 8th, but if you are still taking orders then I'd love to pick one up.
  3. Well they look like they will be great! How much were you thinking? I'm really interested if the bolt pattern is the same. I've looked into doing the mazda DOHC conversion for the A-series, but it all seems more theory then practice at this point. I'd love to see how your motorcycle conversion goes. Sadly I'm not mechanicly inclined enough to pull something like that off yet.
  4. I know you had mentioned offering these rockers covers up, then mentioned stopping production of Datsun parts. Do you think these will be available? I'm not completely sure if the A14/A15 rocker covers have the same pattern as the A12 (Datsunfreak/ggzilla to the rescue?) but if so, I'd be interested in one. Also, I was wondering why you decided to step away from the moto-carbs? I've grabbed my manifold for R1s and had planned on a similar setup running 8lbs of boost but still haven't pulled the trigger on the SC. Just can't talk myself into doing it with a fully stock Datsun in good shape
  5. Thanks for the advice. Those lines were scary with all the crap in them. So far we have replaced around 70% of the fuel hose (all the hoses under the car were rotten) and I have eught feet of vacuum hose to start working. The rear drums and shoes have been removed, all the hardware looks good but we haven't bled the lines yet. I have new brake and clutch hoses and a new clutch master and slave (the clutch master was dry, the brakes were still holding fluid). I do have two rear brake cylinders and a new brake master if needed, so I might replace them as well. After all of the vacuum lines are replaced and we do the tune-up, hopefully it will idle properly. Sadly I've failed on pictures for this one. If it ever stops raining I'll snap some photos during the brake work.
  6. The flat rectangular thing you slide your finger over huh? I never knew my lighter could do that!
  7. Nice find! I'd love to find another 620 or a 520/521... The only ones I've found down here are 4-5K cause people think they are made of gold or some shit.

Nice start! My first advice is think about removing those ding strips. They look a lot better imo without them. Here is my coupe: I've cleaned it up and got it running since then, but this was how it looked when I got it home. As far as making it the best it can be, these were economy cars with some room for improvement, but with the amount of power you'll get from it, you are probably better off just keeping it stock with minor upgrades. Then you have a sweet ride that can be really reliable, has great fuel economy, and still turns heads as you drive around town. If you are really wanting to get more power, and your goals are higher than 120hp at the wheels, expect to spend a lot on machining and forced induction, ot swapping in an engine. Also, you'd have to look at upgrading the rear end and braking system to be safe. Good luck with the build. It looks like I bought you car's dirty older sister :P
  9. That moment when you can't decide on replacing parts or just getting the damn thing on the road... If it works, don't fix it?

  10. Well, it actually took 3 pennys and two pieces of "metal tape" = expensive repair :P
  11. You guys were spot on. Got under there and the plug had been pushed through the hole, broken in three pieces. Replaced it with a penny and it's working perfectly now.
  12. Nice, thanks Mike. I'll check that out tomorrow.
  13. Well, my B210 is up and running after sitting for 12 years, but I'm having an issue with the brake lights. They won't shut off. We've checked the fuses and all of them are good and corrosion free, but I don't know what all else needs to be checked. It's a 1977 B210 coupe.
  14. Someone shoot me... Removing the fuel tank from the B210 coupe is a fucking pain with 4 flat tires...

I can only imagine.i dropped mine yesterday at my buddys shop with the lift and a tranny jack.took like 15 min to get it out of the truck.though I cleaned the rust and the filler neck has a big ass hole and gass leaks when I try to pump now........

i undid the straps and hooked a chain around the filler hose,,,hooked it to bumper of truck.. Then a little "let-er happen capp-en and boom right out.

Oh no... I can't do that to the B. It's too clean and I'd find a way to blow something up.

  15. It's ALIVE! got the gasket sorted, put in a battery, and poored a bit of gas down her gullet and bam! Still need to clean the tank so we disconnected the hose and used a gas rag. Doesn't look like she smokes so it might be good. If only the green bitch were so easy ¦(
  16. Ah thanks for the info ggzilla. Full of the good stuff as always :) The 1200 carb was more focused on if I decided to desmog it though. If it runs with the smog stuff, I see no reason to worry about it (yet) Question though, the rubber gaskets in the air cleaner box (the one the air filter sits on, and the on on the box lid that sits on the filter), is there a realiable replacement for these? The green car has a perfect gasket in on the bottom section of the air cleaner, none on top, and a horrible gasket around the carb opening. The white one has a good carb seal, good air cleaner lid seal, but no seal for under the air filter... I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.
  17. Haha, nah man. The hatch will be alive by Friday (fingers crossed). So, finally finished moving and put in some work on the coupe. Got it jacked up and pulled the oil plug to drain it. Fully black, but what else could you expect after 12 years sitting. Being extremely cautious of attempting a restart with dry internals, we pulled the rocker cover... This is the cleanest engine I have ever seen inside. No sludge at all, no oil, rust, dirst, silicon. I was in complete shock, it looked brand new. Took some of my "high mileage" conventional oil and wiped down the rockers, springs, and push rods. Then we noticed that the rocker cover gasket had a break in it, so we just sat it back down till tomorrow when the new gasket arrives. Then we'll fill the oil, drain and replace the coolant, prime the pump, and do a test start using a small can and the stock pump (hopefully). Interestingly enough, the radiator still has plenty of coolant in it even after sitting 12 years. It is barely above the top fins, but there isn't any noticable corrosion. I still have a long way to go to clean up all of the smog crap, but if it will run with it, I may leave it all. Working Datsun vs Datsun sitting waiting for a 1200 carb, water neck, and my lazy as to make block off plates? Hrm, hard choice :P
  18. Got my FSM for the B210s, but might need some tips for easily replacing the clutch, fluids, and possibly seals on the trans all by myself. I might have a spotter but no one else will be under the car to assist.

  19. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I was actually wondering about the CA18DET trans or even the six-speed SR20 trans to see how much of a pain they would be. I don't see any setup I make for the A-series pushing more than 130ft/lbs (and that's a pipe dream) so both of those should be strong enough. Just thinking about a six-speed in a B210 makes me very happy
  20. Yea, I'm thinking of throwing a weber on to the new coupe. Tired of messing with that smog carb. Either that or find one of those elusive 1200 carbs and desmog the engine... So, this one is going electric still or has the direction been changed again? I have a hard time keeping up with you guys :)
  21. Man, that looks really fun. Anyone have room in their basement for a hobo and yard space for two B210s? Hate the south east :(
  22. Wonder if you could drive like that in the truck :P
  23. Can't wait to get home. UPS says my shift knobs are waiting at my door :w00t: Thanks again to Dave and everyone involved. Glad to be of some assistance to a really clean build for charity.
  24. need to put some plastic down like you do when painting over carpet :P Those pedals look really nice. Time to change out the 4 door pedals "Only 45000 original miles" :ninja:
  25. So, what you're saying is they will never be done? We all know a datsun is never finished... :poke:
