  1. Well just for the hell of it I went out and crawled under to look at it again. The brass looks and feels fine. It has a bit of pitting on the edge. How about the red grease I used to pack my wheel bearings? I think I have some left, if I can find it. Speaking of dirt there was a literal rat nest in the front case. I'll upload pics tomorrow. I'm frozen and dirty.
  2. Wore the hell out. Nighty night

  3. With all the stress I just put on it it's probably shot. Not too worried about it. It all looks like new on the other truck. Old truck had worn out motor and a great trans. New truck had a great motor and shit trans. From the two I make one. As for lubing the shaft before installing in other truck; Would white lithium work alright? Man I was about ready to just say fuck it and pull the engine and trans out together.
  4. I'm not an idiot. I have a fsm and it's a pretty shitty one. Doesn't really tell you how to do things just what to do. The pictures and diagrams are all it's worth. I haven't had any trouble with the simple stuff. Pulling a trans solo with no experience is not something I would call simple. What corners am I cutting? The bushing is intact and can be replace when the engine is rebuilt. Which has to be done and I'm not doing it. That's why I bought another one... Go wrestle a frozen trans shaft and tell me it was senseless labor.
  5. That's the splined bearing the shaft goes into right? I'm not going to bother with it. Just going to put the spare 4 speed in so I can get it back running and driving so I can get it sold. All the goodies on the little brown funk machine are being used on my new truck Sora. I'll have a rather nice driveable Deluxe when I'm done.
  6. Mission accomplished, bitch.

Let me tell you something ass-eyes, let me tell you ALL something: war has made me very PARANOID! and when you get to eye-balling me, makes my Agent Orange act up, makes me want to KILL!

  7. Matt, I pulled the first one last night and had a blast learning how to get it out. The problem with this one is the shaft was frozen solid.
  8. I did it! I managed to get a screwdriver and chisel wedged in the top as far down as I could. Then I jacked it up from the tail end so it squeezed against the chisel and screwdriver. I was starting to lift the whole truck when the shaft finally came free! Pulled the motherfucker out from under there and propped it on some bricks. Shut the lights off and let the truck down. Tomorrow is install day.
  9. Looking for the guide on tearing down a 5 speed. I know I've seen it. Do i need to remove the piece the shifter goes into?

  10. I can get about a 1/4 inch gap on any side. The shaft just won't come free. I been so damn rough with it that if I was going to break something I already did. I'm going out for one last try then I'm going to bed.
  11. Tried it with giant screwdrivers on each side. Last resort may be wedging them in both sides at a time evenly with a hammer.
  12. I have absolutely run out of ideas. I doused everything in penetrating oil. QUICK! Fresh ideas!
  13. I hate you but respect your logic.
  14. From experience, skip the Ruckus and get a Zuma. Honda Ruckus is just a stripped down ripoff of the Yamaha Zuma. No fairings to keep the wind, dirt, and bugs out and no trunk to lock your goods in. Wouldn't suggest it for an old lady. Also I've seen that there were a few bad batches of Ruckus that had some problems and the parts are not cheap. The suspension wears out prematurely and the brakes are not up to par, especially for heavier riders. But hey, they look cool. If she was to get a Honda I'd recommend and Elite. I can also say I've seen Elite 4 stroke 80cc bikes older than me with 20k miles. Definitely a better bike than a Ruckus for just getting around. And like rally said, don't buy a chinese bike. They are dangerous and rarely go over 1000 miles without a carb or clutch replacement. In fact I feel that they should be banned from importation or at least have to pass some sort of testing before they can be sold. I have experience with lots of scoots but I may be a bit biased towards Zumas because I daily drove one for 9800 miles. I never replaced anything but the rollers and back tire. @Rally I ran a 70cc jug and all the other mods with the oil injection and ran 11k rpm for 2 years without an oil problem. I eventually broke a ring pushing it to it's limits. If you get a 2 stroke Zuma they NEED to be rebuilt around 7500 miles. Also, the Zumas do very well offroad.
  15. You found it. Sounds like a nice truck and with a new engine you should ask 2500-3000$ You should make an ad in the Datsun for Sale section when you're ready and be sure to include a Price and lots of good pics.
  16. Any info on these? Factory mags I suppose. My dad says he saw them back when they were in the dealerships. I've been looking and haven't found any on here yet but I'm sure someone must have them. They came on my Deluxe. Note the factory locking lugnuts! I'm gonna go get an alignment and have the balance weights put on the back where they go. They they're getting polished. They look great on the truck.
  17. Man all this ped talk... I gotta fix my zuma.
  18. Holy fucking shit this transmission will not come off the engine. Why the hell can't things go as they should. I have no idea whats going on and I gotta get this shit done asap.

I was just going to say it could be rusted.

Also you might be pinching it a bit if you have a gap at one end or the other.. Support it carefully and retry. I squashed a pilot bushing pulling an engine when I was 15 and likely input bearing as well :-/.

      Use guide bolts.

And DRIVEN I do that anyways haha.

Did you make sure you got the two bolts at the top of the bellhousing?? They're kind of out of eyesight if you aren't paying attention.

DTP- I pulled the clutch fork boot and sprayed everything I could see with penetrating oil. It's soaking right now. I'm trying to tear the other apart while I wait. I got under there with my pops with giant flatheads on each side and we can wiggle it back and forth. Then we ran a chain around it and pryed from the back of the truck with no luck. Matt- Yeah I got the driverside top bolt out and the other was mia. I can get a gap at any side of the trans but the shaft just wont slide ou...

  19. Reminds me of when A man was pissed because his Moped wouldn't do 45mph after I modded it. I told him it would gain 10mph per 50 pounds lost.
