  1. Alright guys. Im struggling with filler. its not sticking and currently im scraping it all off. Im going over the top of the epoxy primer, scuffed with 40 grit. Cleaned with acetone, mixed and spread. Its currently 55 degrees in the shop. Thoughts?
  2. that's still my goal, whether or not I'm on track... yet to be determined, I hate bodywork, its hard to get motivated to go sand for hours, once the things painted it'll go together quick, that's the kind of work I enjoy
  3. april.... hmmm thats about 3 months away... who wants to come help me sand bondo?! ......ha it could happen...
  4. What are the specs on them? they do look pretty dang good on a 510
  5. Casey, im up in Stanwood (I guess you could just include me with all the Everett guys)
  6. The motor was rebuilt all stock? those pistons tend to break at the ringlands and skirts for various reasons when boost is added. The valve seals and valve guides tend to not last very long either. All my experience has been based off of turbo l's but fore the most part boost is boost.
  7. If Your tunneling for exhaust clearance reasons... why wouldn't you start all the way at the front? That's where it generally drags the most, theres way more room in the back to tuck it in comparison to making that turn under the car. Just my opinion.
  8. i will try all the different baud rate options, i was told most cheap cables use 38400, and the nicer ones use 115200. I was trying to use 38400 and havent actually tried any others, yet.
  9. while running i have 12 volts at pin 16 off the ignition yes. And the software im trying to use has a tab for mode 6 testing but i cant get it to do much of anything Its to dark to try and verify all the pins and getting to late to move it into the shop (dont wanna piss of the neighbors) ill move it in tomorrow and finish checking over my wiring. Also, i just noticed while i tried it again, while running it doesnt just disconnect, it actually disconnects and reconnects erratically but never stays connected for more then a few seconds at a time
  10. And heres the ecu pinouts http://www.lt1swap.com/lt1_pcm_pinout.htm Edit: i have pins 4 and 5 grounded, Pin 16 is 12v off ignition switch, and as im looking back over those pinouts i need to go out and verify which other pins im using.
  11. http://www.lt1swap.com/fuseblock_obd2port.html Edit: scroll to the bottom of that link^^^ Yes i "believe" i have it all wired correctly, Someone else mentioned "to much electrical noise" but im not sure what that means.
  12. No live data will show up while running, ive tried unplugging and plugging back in while running, it wont connect because the laptop isnt recognizing the usb while the engines running? when the engines off though i can see some certain live data, such as coolant temp, intake air temp, throttle percentage.
  13. I know i know its not datsun related, just hoping someone here could possiby give a little insight. My drift car is an e30 with an lt1 out of a 96 firebird formula. I found some software for checking DTCs and live data etc. I wired up the obd2 port and bought an elm327 usb cable. So the problem. ecu on, engine off, i can get it to connect and view the trouble codes. But as soon as i start the engine the usb disconnects from the laptop and disappears from "devices and printers", engine off, unplug, plug back in it will reconnect. Any input appreciated!
  14. thanks guys, my ultimate goal is to have it completely done for canby, although I'd like to have it on the road way before that
  15. just about got the taillight panel all fit. Its getting there slowly but surely. And since were going to be messing around with glass we started working the airdam to Ive also built, rebuilt, modified, torn back apart, re designed, rebuilt, about a dozen times and after a long frusterating week (yes a whole week) i have one seat mounted where i think i want it..... Sorry for the low quality pictures, but hey its better then just words right?
  16. Shit, I think that guns older then I am, were gunna go pick up a new gun before paint or see about rebuilding this one, we were having problems with the coverage dropping after you pull the trigger, the only way to fix it was increase pressure but then it wouldn't spray right. so we made it work, but it took forever to spray the whole thing
  17. I just set them in there real quick and yeah they are to tall, my head hits the roof, I'll make new slider brackets and lower the mounts tho, probally get a good 5 inches lower, they'll fit great then
  18. I tried posting some pics but photo bucket keeps freezing up, I'll try again tomorrow
  19. well I wish I woulda read that before, I already got the car back and just finished priming it...., I know he used a " media" booth, that he had built a couple years ago, the media is all blue and pink so what's that mean?
  20. I'm using skagit powdercoating, he's got a media both and my dad's used him a bunch in the past, he's charging me 200 to strip what's left, pretty reasonable or comparable at least
  21. Long story short, a good friend of mine had a beautiful sti, he sold it to another friend of ours when he went off to college. that friend totaled it, and now i just helped another freind go pick up/buy the car and store it outback under our carport So to the important part of the story, for helping him hes giving me the front seats! they were immaculate before it rolled, just need a little cleaning to get the mud out now, but they should fit and look pretty good in there in my opinion. Ill post a picture tomorrow when its light out. And i dont have the car back from the blaster yet, i called him today and he said it can probally be done tomorrow, but i dont have a trailer lined up for tomorrow so ill probally have it back monday, tuesday at the latest.
  22. Sounds good, just make sure your bay area is warm when doing body work or primer, as paint and filler do not like to stick to cool metal. My body teacher use to say "cool metal is wet metal". Huh heavy metal What? Alright, ill make sure to go and stock up on pellets and keep the heat cranked while im workin! Started moving stuff around and rigged this up. Need to get some more pulleys and ill make another across the back. Then just need to cut some plywood so I can put some fans under the door. And keep cleaning.... 15 years of boat detailing and fiberglass work has sure accumulated a lot of dust...
