  1. kind of an exciting update, I decided to not be a cheap bastard and my cars going off to media tomorrow when I get home from class. while its gone ill be cleaning and moving everything out of my bay in the shop, and transforming it into a (redneck) paint booth! when it gets back ill look for anymore pinholes or things that need to be welded, then itll get primed, set on sawhorses so the taillight panel can be put in, and ill be able to start body work. Hopefully, this will all be competed mid next week..... But since I don't know paint or fiberglass and have to count on my dad, we will see about that.
  2. I was just watching a video on vinegar water actually, it wasn't clear in that though whether or not it was "safe" to get wet/wash off once it dried though, so just double checking, if I scrub with vinegar water, let it dry, I should then wash the car again with clean water? If I prepped all my bare metal surfaces with the vinegar water, would it be "safe" to then pressue wash the remaining grime off the bottom of the car? I just bought my epoxy, its Omni mp170, it was like 150$ for two quarts, if the spi stuff is that much better I could always return this stuff? I was looking at some of the rust prep stuff eastwood sells but, someone was telling me vinegar water does essentially the same thing? and they have so many products I didn't know what the hell I was looking at afterawhile
  3. Does anyone here have any advice on prepping the car before spraying with expoxy primer? my trailer fell through last Friday and I haven't gotten it to the blasters yet, and im starting to second guess even needing to blast whats left. With that said theres still a lot of grime on the bottom, and surface rust in some places. Ive also been using paint stripper and need to make sure all that's cleaned off as well. Id love to just pressure wash the thing, but obviously that wont work because of rust. Thoughts? Even if I did have it blasted, what steps would you guys use to prep, clean, the surfaces?
  4. Its so nice! makes working on the car so much easier!
  5. almost ready to drop off at the sandblaster tomorrow, just need to finish stripping what I can and a little more grinding. Spent the last two days grinding -_- and almost a full day fixing stripped and broken bolts.
  6. im gunna try and swing out to this, I wont be in anything cool though... maybe the e30 but doubtful
  7. sorry for the shitty cell phone pics (VintageRice)
  8. if all else fails ive had luck with a small pair of vise grips on them to crack em loose. Carefull with those screws tho, if your to rough on them the threaded part like to break.
  9. haha meybe i just didnt care as much as others, but i never had this many problems trying to get my car to run right... although i did have 10 pounds of boost to cover up the shitty tune
  10. Just keep taking it one problem at a time, That's the best way to learn. Itll be driving again in no time!
  11. jalen, I just left your brothers, you have no spark.....your missing your oil pump drive shaft.... that bubbly sound is the open header, Fix the spark issue, MAKE SURE YOU ALIGN IT ALL PROPERLY and it looks like it should fire right up.
  12. Did you get it figured out? try jumping the terminals with a screw driver, and check voltage at the starter and battery, check your grounds as well.
  13. Hey if you need anything that's holding you up over the weekend while im gone, feel free to pull what you need out of the car, its sitting out back under the carport, just give me heads up.
  14. this sums up everything ive been thinking every time I see this thread get bumped....
  15. Lol my bad.... Meybe ill step up from the cell phone and start using a camera
  16. Small update. Tackled the last couple rust spots. Its been to hot and muggy in the shop, don't really feel like welding. So I messed with some fitment issues in the rear. (still don't have my rear wheels) But that's where my wheel will sit within a 1/16th of an inch. Started talking to jrock and a local guy about sandblasting when I finish the metal work so I can get it all cleaned up and sealed really well with epoxy primer. I was going to leave this spot when I first started this panel, but poking through it with a screwdriver it had to go.....
  17. From what I see, the hose you have going to the themostat housing should be going to the barb on the intake mani, and the one on the thermostat housing should get plugged, or have your coolant temp sensor in it. And as hainz said, move your fuel line
  18. I know, even with all its damage it was a beauty No problem! sorry it took me awhile to get it sent out, sometimes my mind is in a million places! Im trying to do it all right, I cut a few corners with some of the rust repair but im going for a nice car in the long run  Im trying! Haha I hope he isn't disappointed, I talked to him today and he was assembling the motor, and hes been pretty much improving every aspect that I told him I would change (or has plans to) NA, I figure Im trading all my l stuff for one good motor, mine as well keep it reliable! it might see boost at some point, but it definitely wont be for quite sometime after the car is finished.
  19. Was looking for a certain picture and came across this, man I loved that car... On a happier note, that motor setup is going to be living on in another dime, although I don't think he wants anyone to know yet, and im getting his KA24DE for this build!
  20. It took me a little bit to come up with a decent way to put the car on the rotissire, little ghetto but its not going anywhere. I had to tack the old taillight panel back in for some ridgity while on there, the frame rails flexed to bad without it as soon as i put any weight on them.
  21. Thanks, between the old one being rusted out, and wanting to fit the tank, compressor, valves, and battery in there i figured i mine as well redo it.
  22. Tomorrows gameplan is to attack the inside with the wire wheel and try to get it stripped, and pooossssibbllllyyyy get it fit to the rotissire
  23. Technically yeah, but I don't want to get rid of it until I have this one all assembled.
