DaveyDaveDaveDave
I have the 5spd out of my 78 620. It lost fifth gear and I found a junkyard unit to replace it. I dont know if anyone is up for that sort of thing, but if you are you get the whole tranny for nothin! Link to comment

650savag
what would it take to repair the tranny so it will stay in 5th? Link to comment
72240z
Depends whats wrong with it. There are a few things that will cause that, the fork, slider ring, shifter/linkage etc... Link to comment
HRH
Hmm, yes, a location would help. I'd like a spare long tail 5 speed. Good rebuild is 350 or so depending on who you know. Link to comment
DaveyDaveDaveDave
Ok, so heres the details. Im in Marysville WA. Thats 40 mi north of seattle. It started out not staying in 5th. Then it wouldnt even go into 5th. Just grinding. Sooo.... A buddy and I pull it out this morning. We were sloppy. I thought you could pull that pin back by the shifter mount and thus remove it. Lo' and behold, didnt work. Now it wont go back in. Broke off one of the little ears that go across the rear mount too. BUT! Other than that its a great tranny! You can have the original clutch too if you want! its brown and grooved! Edited February 19, 2009 by DaveyDaveDaveDave Link to comment
