hughdogz
If it is anything like the front crank seal, it is a good idea to "lube it" with something like RTV sealant before installing it. Quote Link to comment
420n620
dont forget to put a little oil on the seal area that seals againist the crank also.. you prob lee already new that. just checking....:D Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I wouldn't RTV it, factory doesn't. I don't care for that stuff, inevitably pieces end up in the oil pan and collect on the pick up tube screen. Dip it in oil and install carefully so the lip doesn't fold under. Once started place a block of wood over it and carefully hammer on. Finnish seating it by tapping in with a wooden dowel in a crisscross pattern. Quote Link to comment
zerow
Or use a drift. Go to the auto parts store and get one of those size specific oil filter "sockets" Get one of the same diameter as the outside of the seal. You can hammer on those things all day, and what did you spend, a few bucks? Quote Link to comment
Skib
thanks guys, gonna give it a try tomorrow, the inside lip folder under on my last time and tore :( Quote Link to comment

Skib
the new ones lubed in plenty of oil but it still dosent want to go on. its like its to small, i dont see how it can even fit on there Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The crank end is just over 80mm or 3.154" wide so the seal can't be too much smaller.... hmmm that's for the 4cyl. maybe L28 is larger and you have the 4cyl. Quote Link to comment
Skib
it was a good half cm to small all around and well iv broken 3 seals now trying different ways and im far to pissed off to work on it anymore today, i gotta have someone else get one on there cuz im sure not having any luck. slodat
if they gave me a 4cyl then 2 diff napas an schucks all gave me the wrong part You should stop shopping at those crappy parts stores! Your car club (NWZ) has a great discount at Baxter's and their parts guys are usually knowledgeable! Quote Link to comment
