weird smoke

i changed the oil in my 620 and put about 4.5 quarts of oil. I know you should put about 5.1 qts, but the dip stick showed it full? It smokes very little from somewhere but my temp does not rise. its not really a big problem, but i want to fix it before it is. i think i should add more oil:o

4.5 quarts to fill an L20B/L18 and about 5 with filter change. Always change the filter, they're cheap and the old one is full of dirty oil that just mixes with the clean new oil. I would start with 4.5 and then add the extra while checking the stick. If it says full after running it... it's full.

Oil probably spilled down the valve cover onto the manifolds... it'll burn off quickly.

Check that your dip stick is alright and reading correctly. If overfilled the crank will splash in it. Oil spray on the cylinders can overpower the rings and get up into the cylinder head and burn causing smoke. Nothing wrong... just too much oil.

If you know for sure that you only put 4.5 quarts in and the stick says full, then leave it.

...just the other year I was sitting in my room with long hair...no, wait.... that was today! The smoke was from a plug in air freshener and the smell was from my fat dog Bently farting, while licking the inside of my bong. :D
